  1. Rescheduling would be a smart election year move. Most people favor it.

  2. I don’t see a Biden and Harris ticket pushing to reschedule or legalize marijuana. Especially with Biden’s stance on it in the past. But this would be a very smart card to play to ensure a better chance if they are feeling at all worried about loosing in 2024. The Right in the House and Senate would loose it but a lot of the voters on the right actually support legalization or rescheduling so it would put them in a tight spot.

  3. Oh yeah they are seeing the winds of change. By pushing what they can control rescheduling to the front they’ll get young voters. Republicans hate when marijuana pops on a ballot in their state because it brings out the young and independent.

  4. This is the permission Biden needs to make a huge pivot and move forward.

  5. Duh! This is such a crock of bullshit that’s ever been a schedule.

  6. Pretty wild Republicans spent years making this such an issue. As with literally everything else they’re proved demonstrably wrong, and somehow 30% of eligible voters go “you know what I’m sure this next one they’ll definitely get right!”

  7. Interesting.

::hits legally acquired THC vape pen::

  8. Wait, a headline in /Politics that doesn’t have the word Trump in it? I must be dreaming

  9. You don’t say, you mean it’s not more dangerous than cocaine? 😯

  10. Classifying THC along with heroin was supposed to prevent hippies and black people from voting.

  11. What in earth is the justification for keeping it scheduled? This is nothing to celebrate, it is still federally illegal. Employers can still test for it. This is ridiculous.

  12. Why the fuck does the DEA have a final say on reclassification?!? We’ve seen this before folks. There is no way that the DEA voluntarily destroys itself. Somebody cheer me up because I’m starting a negativity spiral.

  13. No shit. This is new and remarkable information! /s just in case

This was well known information back in the 70s. Glad the FDA finally caught up ffs!

  14. It was legal for a long time before it was illegal. I

  15. Wow, they came to that conclusion quickly. What was that … like 12 min?

  16. A huge step forward would be to stop the federal DOT from testing for it.

  17. Will medical cannabis be tax deductible like other medications when this is finished?

  18. It’s an election year. Reschedule it and maybe even legalize it. Would be a big win for Biden

  19. This is something a pothead from 50 years ago could have told you.

We spent tax dollars on this.

  20. In other news, CDC determines water still wet, so be sure to social distance from all bodies of water until scientific evidence provides better data.

  21. DEA will sit on their “decision”. They’ll take public comments, cherry pick clearly biased “research” and drag it out while the politicians on either side say little to nothing about it. They’ll eventually come back with a statement saying it will remain in the current schedule so they don’t have to admit they’ve been wrong for all these years and caused so much harm to so many people. Hopefully I’m completely wrong but I’ve had my hopes up before and it’s not turned out great.

  22. Yeah, no shit

It’s past time we stop locking folks up over fucking cannabis

  23. If Biden doesn’t take a position on federally legalizing weed then he simply doesn’t want to win. The science has been done, we know it’s not some demon drug. All the federal classification of weed does right now is hamstring any government agency attempting to hire employees, they’re basically cutting off a good percent of potential candidates who would be perfectly fine.
