Accepting some of the compromises that are inevitably required to run a country is the reality of their job. Expecting politicians to govern without any of the compromises necessary to secure the mandate to govern is just silly. All we can judge on is the priorities.
Despite brutal real term cuts to public spending over more than a decade they’ve managed to introduce medicine free at the point of use, kept tuition fees free, done loads to shield the poorest from the Tories and during the pandemic they led the way in protecting our health.
Meanwhile Labour has ruled out ever agreeing to Scotland having its own voice and they’ve coordinated with the conservatives to manipute the votes in various seats to maximise their chances of taking down their common enemy. A pair of lions might squabble over who gets the best cuts of meat, but they definitely aren’t on the side of the gazelle and will put aside their quarrel to make sure it can’t escape.

If you consider Ash Regan and Kate Forbes tartan Tories, then it should be 51.8% of the SNP membership are tartan Tories. Because that’s the voteshare the two between them managed – Yousaf owes his election to Regan voters that preferred him to Forbes.

Yes the SNP have had a big tent approach which brought in some good people to the older tartan tory set. It was their biggest strength but also their biggest weakness. I’m hoping they’ll ditch the TERFs and landlords completely.
