Nice video!
I’ve seen it already, great video
Už tu bylo a je i druhý díl, ale pořád je to dost dobrý a obsahuje tak o bambilion % víc informací než nám o legiích řekli ve škole..
I literally watched it yesterday ^^
Okay, history student from Charles university here and it is a decent video but u did get a few of the things wrong.
1. The whole point of setting up the foreing legions was to get support of the allies for the cause of czechoslovakian independence – that however didnt come from the russians but from our exile goverment in Paris – namely future president Masaryk, Beneš and Štefánik. There was little to no initiative from the Russian side – this was the exile goverment’s plan all along.
2. The reason why Bolsheviks wanted to disarm and capture the legions was because it was by far the most capable fighting force left at the eastern side of the world – they wanted to incorporate it into the red army (same as allies wanted it to stay in Russia so it can keep the Bolsheviks in check). It wasnt because of some incident.
3. The legions didnt fight just in russia (they were also in France, Italy etc.). But thats just a minor detail since the eastern one was by far the most interesting.
(There was an interesting idea that the legions should join the white army and destroy bolsheviks (which, in hindsight would’ve solved so many problems:D) – and they prolly would. )
U glossed over the most important points a little bit.
The journey was absolutely mental, the legions fought everyone everywhere and crushed all the opposition. Some encounters are utterly crazy – like one where about 200 czechoslovaks with no weapons beat over 1k bolsheviks with guns and artillery (😂).
Its really a crazy story and its def up there with Hannibal crossing the Alps, Alexander the great buttfucking half the world and so on and more u dive into it the crazier it gets. One thing does stand out about the legions and its their idea of comradery, friendship, solidarity and the policy of not leaving anyone behind – something that I think shaped the czech mentality more than anything else.
Overall – kinda solid and its nice to see ppl taking interest in this lesser known but one of the craziest campaigns.
