**Lois Lane actor Rachel Brosnahan says -**
> “I think this [new] Superman will have a sense of humor. I’ve really enjoyed the collaboration with James Gunn so far. Every single person involved in this production is such a perfect nerd for Superman. We all grew up watching the movies. Some of us were reading the comics. So I feel like it’s being made with so much love. And I think this Superman will have a sense of humor. We’re excited to both put our own spin on things and honor the material we love so much.”
More Marvel style bullshit where every other line is a punchline to a joke
You trying to make reddit bitch?
Nothing wrong with that, many other Supermans did too. Just don’t make him into a joke machine.
I mean he’s gonna be directed by James Gunn, so….yeah.
About to have thousands of quips throughout the movie, please don’t
I think most will agree that the Snyderverse had to die, but also that losing Cavill as Superman is such a shame. If they ever needed a perfect nerd, he was right there.
He is not very lucky, with everything that happened with the Witcher as well. I hope Warhammer will be everything he wants it to be, it is a franchise so close to his heart (and Witcher was as well…)
The fact that almost any story about the new Superman movie makes me want to talk about Cavill is a testament of how big of an impact he had on the franchise
I hope they make it less about Superman and more about Clark Kent and how he has to hide being superman. That is the more interesting part. As a kid growing up the most memorable scene in the 80’s movies was the bowling alley scene where Clark uses his super powers to help the kid destroy the pins.
Please don’t be quippy Marvel dialogue.
No such thing as perfect nerd.
I’m so glad she got this role. Rachel and Aya Cash were my top choices for Lois Lane for a long time- and it’s all because the character has been missing a sense of humor.
The best versions of Lois are always sassy and biting. This is the reason I still hold Dana Delany up as the character template.
Clark need to be a dork. He clumsy and adorkable. So much so it crazy to think he Superman.
Marvelesque quips incoming
r/seinfeld
I just dont see why he wouldn’t also have a super sense of humor
They are going to overdue the fuck out of it, mark my words.
I just hope it’s not marvel “joke a minute” humor
This would’ve been a great promotional strategy seven years ago. Now it’s just going to turn people off the movie.
So, he will be Superman then?
As long as we don’t have to hear “Martha”.
It’s a James gunn movie of course it will have humor
As far as the *look* goes, I at least like that this new guy has a kind of weird element to his appearance. Superman is an alien, after all. The guy isn’t ugly, he just looks *different* enough.
Will this be as unexpectedly entertaining as *My Adventures with Superman*?
Can they just like one another and be a good looking het couple? Is that okay?
Looking forward to copying the marvel comedic format of “did that just happen?!?” Jokes
I hope it’s a bad a sense of humor. Superman ain’t a comedian he’s a dad. I want corny jokes that only him and his parent would find amusing.
I like how “nerd” just means whatever you want it to mean now.
Superman 2 is still my favorite even after all these years.
Richard Donner is gone, Chris Reeve is gone. Margot Kidder is gone…yet the memory of that movie is stained in my 50 year old brain. I felt it was almost perfect. Still do.
I won’t be mad if they rebooted it.
Is Taika Waititi directing this?
Right. We all know movie studios are broken, they aren’t going to fix any of their issues unless they truly get rid of the big wigs making the failures of recent years, but who for some reason aren’t held responsible.
There have been so many great stories that are simply ruined by arrogance. From The Witcher (writers mocking source materials) to Game of Thrones (directors shitting all over their own masterfully crafted world) to Marvel (She Hulk and similar nonsense) to the Star Wars reboot (castrating Luke Skywalker) to Marvel again (castrating Nick Fury) back to the DC Universe where they seem to hire actors (Ezra Miller and Gal Gadot) who are insufferable people *and* horrible actors.
Cinemas: <empty>
“New Superman will have a sense of humor!”
Result: No, he won’t. It’ll be another cliche corporate American shitshow of political correctness.
Here’s a dare: Get Ricky Gervais to write the humor. Don’t censor him. He’s smart enough to make and create humor that feels like it would be something a reinvented Superman could say, except it wouldn’t be filtered.
I dare you, DC Universe dimwits. Have Ricky Gervais write Superman’s inner thoughts and let what he says be a sarcastic but SFW reflection of it.
*That* would be hilarious.
And do what “Homelander” in “The Boys” pointed out: yes you can lift an airplane, but your tiny hands would put so much pressure on the bodywork that you’d just penetrate the entire thing. You can’t save a crashing airplane. And if you want to evacuate the 200+ people inside, they’ll break their necks and spines at Superman’s speed.
Show us a crashing airplane and a powerless Superman who has to carefully select those who have the most potential of life ahead of them.
Make Superman skip the 3-year old with a brain tumor. Let him pick the 50-year old banker instead. See how that plays out after 100+ people crash and die.
But nope. We’ll get another generic bland production full of predictable results, perfectly safe for overly sensitive Americans, and nobody will remember the movie 10 years from now, other than as a 10 minutes and 1 seconds bit of humor on YouTube channels like that Pitch Meetings guy.
“So, you have a Superman script for me.”
“Yes, sir, I do.”
“Sold!”
don’t worry, like all James Gunn films, if you’re not sure something is a joke there will be characters laughing to reiterate that it was
I get it it’s for the kids.
But one thing that ruined superhero flicks was how over done the jokes got.
DC never really found the appropriate balance in this either.
Just don’t make him a MCU style sarcastic quip machine. Superman’s earnest optimism is what makes him unique.
At quick glance in the thumbnail image I thought that was Scott Foley and I was like “damn, he’s looking good, isn’t that guy like 50 something”. Don’t know who David Corenswet is, but best of luck to him.
Just base it off My Adventures with Superman.
Good to hear. I’ve gotten tired of Superman being a winey bitch.
Good, I’m so ready to move past the unnecessary “darkness” of the Snyderverse
Superman is a massive, cheerful dork. That’s kind a huge part of his character and appeal. I will never forgive Snyder and Man of Steel for making people think brooding asshole Superman is how he should be.
Another remake of a remake of a remake of a remake….when it flops Hollywood will blame the audience instead of themselves for lack of originality. smdh.
Do we really need another Superman movie tho? I’m kinda getting tired of all these remakes/redos of Marvel/DC stuff. As soon as this one ends, someone will decide to remake it again! I wish horror/disaster movies would make a comeback right now.
Seeing what the MCU has done with “Humor”, this is a bit of a red flag for me, even though its a different franchise.
Henry Cavill was a nerd
