It’s surprising Michael Green, Corinne Stockheath and Sebastian Fox couldn’t give a coherent answer on behalf of Grant.

I’ll precurse this by saying i have no loyalty to the cons or the Rwanda plan – I understand the concerns from the previous Isreal – Rwanda scheme.
That said, this is the same lazy ‘gotcha’ journalism as the Suella piece a while ago – a minister not knowing the answer at the time doesn’t mean there isn’t an answer.
As an example – an Iranian that has crossed the channel an claimed asylum in the UK on the basis of being persecuted as a Sunni muslim will be safe in Rwanda, so they can go. A refugee coming from Rwanda could be relocated to the UK for a reason that the Iranian Sunni muslim is not subject to (note that under the policy Rwandans that enter the UK by irregular means can’t be relocated to Rwanda). If it really wasn’t safe for any refugee for any reason, I’m sure they’d be a lot more said about the EU funding the UNHCR’s Emergency Transfer Mechanism to the very same place.
I mean a threat can be specific to a particular person or a specific category of person.
What Shapps is unable to explain would fill a warehouse.
