Most council finances are dissasterously run. What other business would get away with year on year compound rises in prices (except utilities). Then blame their lack of financial acumen and budget control on lack of central government funding. My own private sector budget, has remained stagnant for several years, while at the same time I am asked to improve customer service and value, which I somehow manage. There are opportunities everywhere you look inside councils to cut cost and rationalise, but why bother when you can just add council tax, inflation busting rises each year and simply blame national government for doing it.
