The House G.O.P.’s Incredible Shrinking Majority

  1. Gonna feel SO GOOD watching Dems hold the White House and both chambers of Congress after Election Day — plus it feels like Alito and Thomas will both be gone in a couple years and then SCOTUS back in Dem hands for DECADES

  2. They need viagra for the party to help with their shrinking members.

  3. If we’re trying to limit mentally unstable people from owning a gun we should limit Republican voters from voting. Same concept

  4. The GOP majority was undeserved in the first place–they ran a campaign to take over state legislatures in key states and then gerrymandered districts so that they won supermajorities in the state legislature and more House seats despite getting slightly fewer votes overall, like they did in Wisconsin.

Now they’ve backed enough unpopular policies and have had enough scandals without policing their own that they’re going to be a minority nationally for the foreseeable future (young voters think they’re corrupt, ineffective, and short sighted and while cable news subscribers are dying off).

If they’d done anything to benefit people except the wealthiest households with tax cuts since 2000 it would be a different story, but now they’ve got such negative associations with the party that they’ve got no future besides fascist minority rule.

  5. Is this a new supervillain, the Incredible Shrinking Politician?

  6. It’s quite something that the minority of this country even has control over the house.

  7. I don’t believe any of this is an accident. They’re just moving chess pieces. They managed to engineer a decades-long project that gained control of SCOTUS. As long as they maintain control and continue to successfully take away rights, deregulate, and dismantle the administrative state, it would be foolish to think they’re actually falling apart.

  8. Id find it hilarious if at some point before the next election, democrats elected a new speaker because of some absences on the floor

  9. The GOP rejects evidence-based policy.

They are both morally repugnant and irrational.

  10. I will wait until I see it to believe it. Too many states vote Red where Dems have a slim holding where the next election doesn’t bode well for the Dem senators.

  11. Redditors do a good job encouraging folks to vote, and while I maintain we all need to vote, I do not see an outcome where the GOP has a good election in 2024.

  12. Make it even smaller in November, make your plans and VOTE

  13. The special election for Santos seat is completed by in February vote .

  14. It’s surprising we never see articles here that say what the left is actually trying…
