I feel it would’ve come down to which defense was more solid on the day and I feel ours would better them in that department
I think you’re doing Barca a little dirty using their 2015 team rather than their 09 team, which for me was the better of the two.
I think City probably win against the 15 team. MSN is bloody dangerous, but if you deny them possession then they don’t hurt you. It would require a performance like the Real game last season, but it would be doable. I think our midfield is stronger, and as good as they are, I think we get through their defense. I doubt we prevent them scoring though. Would be interesting to see Walker vs Neymar, and how Pep would deal with Messi.
It wasn’t your question, but I think Barca 09 probably beats us.
Respectfully, Barcelona. Messi, Saurez and Neymar all in their prime, nobody stands a chance. To back their case more there’s a certain Andreas Iniesta behind them all one – two passing the ball to them.
Their attack is much better than ours, Their midfield was pretty even to ours, our defense was slightly better than theirs. The main difference is their attack, MSN would make a mockery of that Pime Milan back line under Ancelotti. They were just that good…
If this was 2019 Man City vs 2015 Barca. I’d back us
We would, because of Pep.
I’d back 2019 city against anyone in the world at any point and I can’t explain why, they didn’t win literally everything but on their day I’d honestly back them against any team in history.
close, but im leaning barca literally cus of messi.
City 22/23 >>>
Just like in every other argument against Barca 09/11/15 – they are all great teams but not unbeatable teams in a fictional scenario – City 23, Madrid 14/17, Bayern 13/20, Utd 08, Liverpool 19/20 can all take on them comfortably.
The only problem is Messi, he is the difference and theres not a player that can compensate for that.
Generally Barca 15 is considered the weakest of their 3 Ucl winning teams – but its also the most versatile and with most match winners – Neymar, Suarez, Messi, Iniesta in their peak seasons together- 4 Individual ATG players. Messi going back to RW and creating absolute havoc. Its the season he dropped both the Bayern/Boateng and Bilbao final goal dribbling from halfway line in the same fucking month.
Bottom and I hate Messi
MSN.
Case closed.
Barca, and its not even remotely close. Not even with 3 copies of Haaland in that Manchester City formation.
Draw. Definitely.
Attack: Barca is better. As much as I love Haaland and Alvarez, the MSN trio was strictly legendary.
Defense: Man City. Mascherano, Pique, Alves and Alba were good, but with defenders like Rúben Dias, Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji are absolutely superior. And another factor for that would be that Bravo and Ter Stegen from 2015 were much weaker than Ederson and Ortega in my opinion.
Midfield: Draw. Our midfield with Kevin de Bruyne and Rodri would fiercely fight with Barca’s Iniesta and Busquets.
Can imagine a more experienced 22/23 Pep playing long ball football against Barca and using our height on set pieces. The Catalan Pulis

Are the referees from 2014/2015 or 2022/2023?
