Sergiño Dest considers it ‘too difficult’ to return to FC Barcelona, with whom he has a contract until 30 June 2025, as long as Xavi is still on the bench.
He said in an interview with Dutch magazine Voetbal International, when asked about his future when his loan spell at PSV comes to an end: “Xavi is still there. So not at the moment, it will be too difficult”.
The American full-back was signed by Barça on 1 October 2020 for 21 million euros – and another five million euros in variables – and on a five-year contract, protected by a 400 million euro buy-out clause. The Almere-born player has had two loan spells abroad after not featuring in the Terrassa coach’s plans.
Dest opted to leave on loan in September 2022 to AC Milan, with the Italian club having the possibility of acquiring the player’s rights for 20 million euros. The player played only fourteen games in the whole year, four of them as a starter, and the ‘rossoneri’ did not exercise the option to buy.
The player then chose a second loan spell in his home country, at PSV Eindhoven – rejecting his ex-Ajax – after the pre-season tour in the United States with Barça and finding that his secondary position in the squad had not changed. At the moment he remains top of the Eredivisie and there is a real possibility that PSV will exercise the option to buy or extend the loan after this season: “I think Barcelona, PSV and I have something to say about it, and it can be discussed at the end of the season. It is too early now.
Sergiño is playing this season as a left-back, on the opposite flank to his usual position, and is performing well for PSV. He has played 12 games in the league and 6 in the Champions League, starting all of them except against Arsenal in the European competition (where they have qualified as second in the group and will play against Borussia in the round of 16). In total, the player on loan from Barça has accumulated one goal and three assists in more than 1,600 minutes.
“Maybe I’ll stay, maybe I’ll go. Malik (Tillman) is in a similar situation with PSV and Bayern Munich, but fortunately we don’t have to sort it out yet.” Dest concluded that the first thing was to be league champions with PSV before deciding his future.
Bro forgot he’s still under contract
He using this hard time for xavi as an opportunity for him, that shows how smart he is.
He does not want you, neither do we
I’d rather have my grandmother at right back than that fraud
He is bad.
Thank God
Well there’s a pro to keeping Xavi around
This guys brain is filled with soup
Neither will Freddie Adu but you don’t see him in the media talking about it…. dude’s talking like Barca even considers having him back.
Oh no!!!!!!! 😭😢😱😣😥😢😖😭😣😥😖😭😖😲😣
We don’t want you back.
He could have just said “I will not return to Barca,” and I’d have been even happier.
The ego on him. Bro thinks he’s the dest of the best
You will not return regardless of who is there lmao

That overrated Troncazo had zero business in all elite the Powerhouses he’s played at. All of them have gotten finessed.
My man Julian Araujo didn’t get a chance to prove himself and immediately gets tossed to the on loan pile while that tronco got way more chances
Only reason why he’s at PSV is there because Earnie Stewart took over and wants the club to be Americanized and help his countrymen out.
Every coach we hire from now on should be called Xavi to protect us from Dest.
Summary of Dest under Xavi:
21/22- Started out as a backup LB/RW, even played as a LW for 30 minutes in our Copa exit to Athletic. From the Atletico game to his injury against Galatasaray he looked like a very solid RB, didn’t look good after returning from injury.
22/23- Started preseason as the first choice RB, played horribly and eventually wasn’t even in the squad for La Liga before leaving on loan.
23/24- Played 3 pre season, was the worst player on the pitch in each of those.
thats it for me
XAVI OUT
Good
You won’t play for Barca ever again, regardless of who’s the coach
Okay now I’m conflicted.
he did get his chance to redeem himself pre-season, i don’t understand why he’d say this when it was Xavi who decided to give him a chance. He played pretty bad pre-season and then got loaned out again.

We appreciate it, Sergiño
