  1. The votes have now been counted.

    Motion rejected.

178 votes pro delivery of Taurus

485 votes against delivery of Taurus

    3 abstentions

  2. The vote in the German Bundestag on the delivery of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine is now underway and will end in a few minutes.

Some MPs from the governing parties who are publicly in favour of a delivery of Taurus (some of the loudest political voices in Germany) have already announced that they are voting AGAINST a delivery today. For various reasons.

In principle, however, the MPs accuse the CDU/CSU of political games and that Ukraine is only being used for their goals.

I’ll get back to you as soon as possible with the results, but I think you can already guess where the journey is going — that’s another reason why I haven’t reported extensively on today’s vote beforehand

  3. What’s actually the objection of sending taurus to Ukraine? Preventing further escalation? Low German war stocks? What’s the problem here?

  4. From what I can see online it does differ that much from the Storm shadow missile they have already been given? Why are they not willing to give them to UA?

  5. Sounds like Germany wants Putin to win. That’s what I take away from this story.

  6. Finally, that Gazprom bribe money is paying dividends.

  7. im assuming there waiting for f16’s or western jets. then they will be.

  8. All of us in the comments, depending on age, should be prepared for war within the next decade or two. I hope I get to meet some of you. The lack of action from our current leaders and politics has already sealed our fate.

Can’t wait to meet you on the battlefield boys. We can end the Russian scum together once and for all.

  9. Politicians are sick, no matter where they are from: they have the power to stop this shit show soon enough but no, instead they allow this bloodbath to go on for who knows how long.

They should face criminal charges almost as much as Putin should.

  10. Sure, no reason to worry, as at first it will be Baltic’s after Ukraine, then Poland, and even if all them will fall… East Germany says it wasn’t that bad been under ruzia.

  11. A sad day. France and UK see no Problem with sending long range weapons, but our Bundestag craps their pants. Again.

Fuck Russia! And fuck the NO voters…

  12. Here’s what I said at the start of this war: Germany **must take a stand against fascism**. They failed in the 1920’s, they can’t fail again in the 2020’s. Germany totally destroyed Ukraine during WW2 where it was the main goal of _Generalplan Ost_, they owe it to make good now.

  13. Nonononono God please now. Have a fucking spine and do the right thing. The astroturfed FSB-backed AFD movement is growing but they are still the minority. Most of us have decency. You will never weaken extremist movements by pandering to them. You will weaken your own profile.

  14. The decision not to provide Taurus 3 to Ukraine is a kind of win for Russia!

  15. The reason for this isn’t the Taures delivery itself. They just voted against a different part of the CDU proposal that was tied to the Taures proposal.

  16. Consistent with NATO strategy of arming Ukraine not to lose rather than to win, because “what might angry Putin do”. This phony war will go like 1940 if we aren’t careful.

  17. It blows my mind that Europe still doesn’t understand that its future depends on the outcome of this war.

  18. Personally, this for me just means that this war will continue for so much longer than we all thought. Given the wests lack of action, i feel like this will devolve into a Vietnam or Afghanistan type situation for Russia. I still don’t think there’s anyway Russia wins this in the long term. But this makes me think that the years we’ve seen so far is only the beginning.

  19. This is the type of that that makes EU weak. Spineless. You all have terror on your door step but you dwindle your thumbs. It’s all in the back on your minds the US will save everyone when needed. STEP IT UP!

  20. The insanity of it is shocking. they actually want Ukraine to fight until everyone is dead

    >German lawmakers on Wednesday voted against a proposal from the center-right opposition Christian Democrats that included language on delivering Taurus long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine.

    >Speaking to public broadcaster ARD ahead of the vote, Defense Committee Chair Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann criticized the Christian Democrats for using what she called a “partisan tactic” of tying the non-binding Taurus proposal to a debate on the state of the Bundeswehr and, in effect, setting up a no vote.

Basically CDU/CSU playing stupid political games for a domestic audience like the US GOP… Fucking Fotzenfritz again.

  22. the goverment parties never votes for an proposion of the opposition, also this is just some game from the opposition party cdu. if this party was in charge they would never ask such a thing because, they want to hurt the goverment and not send help to ukraine

  23. Germany seems to have more business links with Russia and I think they want a return to status quo or an end to the war.

  24. Hey German people…WAKE THE FUCK UP AND VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE

  25. how hard is it for a German to learn how to speak Russian … asking for a friend

  26. Weak and feeble… It won’t do them any good.
At least France has more courage… 🤷

  27. I’m shocked Ukraine still wants to be a part of NATO and EU. Sure there is some support, but these rejections to what Ukraine knows it requires are slaps in the face. I’m thoroughly unimpressed.

  28. I am adamantly in favor of the US sending weapons to Ukraine and as a life long Republican voter, I am not going to vote for any politician who doesn’t support Ukraine.

But, how is anyone on this side of the planet supposed to be convinced of the seriousness of the situation when people living only 800 miles away do not agree with the urgency?

I’m wondering if there isn’t some misplaced criticism underway?

  29. I just don’t get it… ask Ukraine to fight and kill Russians with one hand tied behind their back?
