Nice office, but where’s the fax machine???
He should have pointed his wrist with the watch towards the customs officer and say: “Talk to the hand.” Works everytime.
‘Welcome to the EU, how can we tax you today?’ Should be a sign at arrivals.
r/loicense material
He’ll be back.
Hide the pain Ahnald

For those that don’t know, watches are a rather common way of laundering money. None of this is much of a surprise.
Alternative title:
German border police accuse ageing, out-of-work actor of smuggling watches.
He should have told them ia fake. Fuck sake
Looks like the police office in Bourne Identity.
They wanted to meet him xD
An Austrian with a Swiss watch is indeed very suspicious.
This is just retelling a Bild [story](https://www.bild.de/unterhaltung/leute/leute/arnold-schwarzenegger-am-flughafen-muenchen-festgehalten-aerger-mit-dem-zoll-86800126.bild.html)
Translation of the first bit below, can’t be bothered with the rest. Edit: I did.
## Arnie caught with luxury watch by customs in Munich
# Even his credit card with no limit didn’t help
## he tells us
What’s going on here with the Terminator? Arnold Schwarzenegger (76) was detained for several hours at Munich Airport, Bild has learnt.
A photo obtained exclusively by Bild shows the Hollywood star with two customs officers. Arnie endured around three hours with them after landing on a plane from Los Angeles at 1.45 p.m.
What’s it all about? The superstar had, according to information obtained by Bild, brought a valuable luxury watch with him for his ‘World Climate Summit’ in Kitzbühel – a piece from the Swiss luxury brand Audemars Piguet (which has been around for about 150 years). According to Schwarzenegger himself, the watch is worth 20,000 euros.
The treasure is to be auctioned off tomorrow, Thursday, at a dinner before the official start of the summit. Schwarzenegger first attracted the attention of customs officials who recognised the super VIP. They stopped him and asked him to open his bags. According to Bild’s information, it was a suspicionless check without a specific reason. The customs officers then discovered the valuable luxury watch in his luggage.
This is a custom-made watch, a truly unique piece. Audemars Piguet (which only produces around 45,000 watches a year, with an annual turnover of around two billion euros) produced it especially for Arnold. Now he is auctioning off the unique piece from his private collection.
According to Bild’s information, acting giant Arnold Schwarzenegger initially took the interrogation reasonably calmly, but then the time and the procedure began to wear on his nerves. He was long overdue to have left Munich for Kitzbühel.
Thomas Meister (55), spokesman for the main customs office in Munich, told Bild: ‘We have initiated criminal proceedings under tax law. The watch should have been declared because it is an import.’
## Customs posse surrounds Hollywood Arnie
At 4.45 p.m. Arnie is finally freed, first thing he does is light up a cigar in the car. He lets off steam! And Bild learns more details of his three-hour interrogation. It literally was the case that the Hollywood star was absolutely interrogated.
Therefore, the customs officers asked Arnold Schwarzenegger (estimated personal wealth of around 500 million euros) very personal questions. Among them: How many children he has, what his partner’s name is, how much loot he has in the bank, how big his personal wealth is…
Schwarzenegger is said to have asked why the officers needed to know this. But the officers allegedly insisted that he had to answer the questions. Pure harassment. According to Bild, the actor has called in his lawyers.
Ex-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger told Bild: ‘That’s the problem Germany is suffering from. You can’t see the wood for the trees anymore.’ The ‘Terminator’ star explained to the officials that the watch was being auctioned off for a good cause, that it was a charity project. But it was no use.
The sum he was allegedly fined: 35,000 euros! Bild learnt that the watch was valued at 26,000 euros. With that comes a tax valuation as high as 4,000 euros and a fine of 5,000 euros.
Arnie is said to have been prepared to pay the sum by credit card. A further blow: he was not allowed to do so – even though the Hollywood giant has an unlimited limit. Because: 50 per cent of the customs fees have to be paid in cash. 17,500 euros in cash! Of course, he didn’t have so much money with him (especially not in euros, which it had to be).
The consequence, which sounds like a bad screenplay: Arnie was accompanied to a bank by an airport employee! His partner Heather Milligan (49), who accompanied him from Los Angeles to Kitzbühel, was allegedly not allowed to go to the bank with him, nor was another party member.
The reason: to make sure he came back.
Customs officers inspect custom watch. Checks out.
That’s truly unfortunate, probably should have had the watch shipped and paid taxes through a broker when it was imported 🤷♂️
What’s up with Munich airport specifically. While exiting the plane, two officers told me to follow them, “random search” they said. I was first person to get off the plane but I have my suspicion they targeted me specifically. They took me in an empty room and went through all my stuff even my underwear, it felt humiliating.
The woman officer tried to play some quick mind games with me based on information I provided them, it was so obvious it was cringe. (I tell them x, 3 minutes later she asks me “you said y right?”. No, I said x. Can I go now?) I’ve never felt more violated and I never had this happen before.
F <3 u Munich airport.
Checking the watch wasn’t from the future
Eaay mistake to make but shit happens
Customs Officer: “What is inside your bag?”
Arnie: “The only thing in there are aspirin. If you touch that bag, you’re gonna need them”
How the fuck is it an import if he intends to auction it in Austria, not Germany. He is just travelling through Germany.
From the CNN article: “The actor agreed to pre-pay potential taxes on the watch and the officers failed to use a credit card machine for an hour until they gave up and brought him to a bank and asked him to withdraw cash from an ATM to pay, according to the source.
The ATM they brought him to had a limit too low and the bank was closed.”
This couldn’t be more German
I was detained at Munich airport for having an “unusual looking” bottle of sleeping pills, so it really can happen to anybody lol
At first I thought wtf it’s a watch it’s a personal item, there is nothing to declare. Then I read he’s planning on auctioning it off in Austria …. So yeah he definitely should have declared it and it is indeed an import that will obviously stay in the EU once auctioned.
Got stop last week leaving Switzerland and had to answer a lot of questions on my watch and my car. I guess they understood that watches are an easy way to move money
Oh, and while we’re done sign this card, shirt, cast…
