Why no recession (so far)? You, the American consumer. Consumers were supposed to crumple under rising interest rates. Instead they gave a big lift to the economy. It wasn’t just how much people spent, either. It was what they spent their money on. A large chunk was spent on wants, not needs.

  2. So, when the wealthy make purchases versus the less fortunate, is that tracked?

    Because we printed billions that ended up in the hands of the already wealthy. I’m guessing that this phenomenon is really just them spending enough for the economy to thrive, without much help otherwise.
