Seeing as a majority of the country support decriminalization of cannabis, email your TDs and ask them to support it too on the 31st

  1. You should put up details of the actual bill. At least a link to it.

  2. Vast majority of the country? Or just the vast majority of redditors on r/ireland ?

    Two very different things

  3. I think legalizing cannabis is a bad thing

    Sue me

  4. Are you sure it’s a majority that support decriminalisation? It’s a big deal here online, but I don’t think the older generation of Fine Gael voters would see it like that.

  5. I’ve always historically been a supporter of legalisation (though I’ve cared less and less about it the older I’ve gotten) but is there many examples of countries/states that have legalised cannabis where the entire place doesn’t fecking reek of the shite haha.

  6. Legalise cannabis and tax it, decriminalise small quantity possession of other drugs and reduce prison population and court backlogs. Use the income in building social housing and for public services! Take the power away from drug gangs, bring in weed tourism like you get in Holland! I don’t like it much myself but there’s honestly no logical reason to not legalise it at this stage.

  7. Having worked in a Ministerial Office (3 ministers/TDs), be wary of the content generated by email tools. Generic emails will receive generic treatment.

Use the tool as a guide but try to customise the email a bit to force the relevant TD to put a bit of thought into how your correspondence is addressed.

Also, don’t forget to follow up (and maybe mention that you look forward to following up with them. Give them the impression that you’re not going away and that while you understand the importance of the whip system, your patience for those who continually hide behind it is limited).

  8. Nope. It’s rightfully illegal and I’ll tell my TD they’ll have lost a family of voters if they try to legalise it.

    (in b4 stoner downvotes)

  9. Not a hope. I might email and ask them to work against this.
