Hopefully, this, along with the increased salary for new naval recruits, will mean we will have a functioning navy at some point in the future.
Nice
The helipad is for the airlift from the Leinster house helipad during the revolution. Fine Gael will establish a government in exile in England of course.
Just arm our fishermen, much cheaper.
I say r/ireland should be let name it!
Any ideas?
If the Navy do decide to go for a ship similar to the HNLMS Karel Doorman, it’s going to cost closer to €360m, a bit more than the expected €200m quoted in the article.

The same people who cry about neutrality will complain about the government making moves to actually enforce.
Think it’ll have bunks to rent?
Good. Seems like a very useful vessel too.

I’m waiting for the RTÉ show on this vessel!
FORSA will be in like Flynn!
Hopefully now be able to use this to go to Dunmore during the summer.
Glad to see its not just a warship. Actually seems like it could be useful.
I thought we didn’t have enough sailors for our fleet? Maybe that information was incorrect.
” which will respond to humanitarian crises “… right lads, let’s burn it down!
Do we have anyone to crew it …?
Will it be ready in time to join the Zionists in their war against the world?
Excellent news.
This is a vessel planned for humanitarian relief, not defence. It has been “planned” for 20 years. Yes, 20 years. As such it should be funded from the NGO and overseas development budget, not defence.
It is a continuation of the same pretence about naval vessels that we have seen for decades.
Below is the spec given by an international defence consultant 4 months ago. When the spec for the LE NGO is released, let’s compare and we’ll know what we have then.
Surely better to give a Naval vessel proper naval equipment, such as Sonar and anti-submarine fighting capabilities?
The thread title forgot three words “…to house immigrants”.
Just think with the estimated 2 billion+ cost of the Children’s Hospital. The state could buy a fleet of these ships and the forced the crew necessary to run and maintain them.

Great FU**ing country.
That’s a lot of space to fit asylum seekers.
