  1. Kyiv Independent’s Lance Luo:

    • French President Emmanuel Macron on Jan. 16 said he will sign a bilateral military agreement next month while in Kyiv, Politico reported.

    • France will “continue to help Ukraine to hold the front line and protect its skies,” he said.

France has been working on a deal for several months, aiming to shore up Ukraine’s defenses and finances in the long term.

  2. Help to hold the front lines? Is a little less help, isn’t it? If all the westeners think so than good night Europe.

    Macron, what’s up with you?

  3. That’s great. Not sure if it’s a shifting mentality, but we definitely hear more of “we’ll help you hold on”, rather than “we’re going to lead Europe to victory”.

One message would be a lot more appealing to hear than the other.

  4. “Hold the front line” but not “win back its land”, eh?

  5. It turns out the quickest way to get a security agreement with France is to sign one with the UK first.
