* The Walgreens exec John Driscoll asked global lawmakers to tax millionaires like himself more.
* As it stands, the American dream is in danger of extinction, Driscoll said.
* Driscoll joined over 250 billionaires and millionaires in supporting the Proud to Pay More campaign.
While I’m all about taxing the ultra wealthy more I don’t think that’s what brings back “the American dream.” What are they specifically talking about? They could immediately help their employees achieve the American dream by paying them more, because at the end of the day that’s what all this comes down to; resource allocation. Who does the labor and who reaps the profits?
They put out statements like this, then they donate tens of thousands of dollars to politicians that make sure it will never happen, and hundreds of thousands to Super PACS to make sure enough of the country is brainwashed into stopping it.
As long Dark money in politics is a thing you can’t take these people at their word. They made it legal to bribe politicians & spend unlimited amounts on on political messaging, then they use it to gaslight us in the media w/ this BS.
” You can’t tax unrealized gains… ” As 65% of the country, mostly middle class, pays taxes on the unrealized gains in their personal residence.
What’s the point? They will just piss it away.
Yes more government spending is exactly what our economy needs right now .
American dream was never a thing to begin with
This is dumb. Raising taxes on wealthy will not solve the problem – not until they close all the loopholes that allow the wealthy to dodge taxes in the first place!
This is a years old article. Lol
In danger of?
They know they’ll be the first ones who are targeted when it truly all falls.
Walgreens literally doesn’t give a shit about their employees. This is ironic. It’s ‘somebody else’s job to fix our own greed’ You can’t expect a meek individual like this CEO to do anything about it.
Walgreens has driven away their customers instead focusing on the health insurance grift. I will drive 20 miles out of my way to avoid Walgreens. My BIL works there, and I still refuse to spend 1 dime there.
This story from that open letter keeps getting spread like propaganda.
This country has gone full banana republic, in my opinion. This fake two party system managed by neocon overlords is a farce.
Instead of taxing, how about billionaires give their workers their fair share of profits for their work? Maybe their workers have great ideas that they would like to bring to life.
The current trend we are on will just continue until we get money out of politics. Our leaders are bought and paid for by the oligarchs running this country.
Surely the government will fix this with more tax money
