Deep freeze in Chicago creates ‘smoke’ blanket on Lake Michigan #shorts
Steam-like vapor rolled off the surface of Lake Michigan on Sunday, January 14, as single-digit temperatures hit Chicago.
Joe Jaroch filmed this video of what he said looked like “smoke” on Lake Michigan on Sunday, a phenomenon that is reportedly caused by water vapor that forms when bitterly cold air meets warmer water.
Other videos posted online showed the vapor rising from the lake, as weather officials warned of wind chills dipping as low as -40 degrees.
