  1. As always only two possible scenarios with price caps, either supply dips or nothing happens. There is never an upside to price caps.

  2. >Hungary’s population decline highest since 1876

oh, I wonder, how could that happen? You make people poor, steal from them all you can, to the point of introducing price control to prevent your people dying in large numbers….

and you wonder why the dystopia doesn’t make the people more prosperous?

And yes, the quote is from the other thread, as these two paint just one and the same picture.

Does anyone remember the scam with offering people who have children some money? It applies after you have 3 children and you will be given some forints NOT ADJUSTED TO INFLATION **AFTER 10 YEARS AFTER YOU HAD SAID CHILDREN**.

That means you would have to pay for everything for that long long time. I did the math, and with even low inflation I used it was a big loss. Never mind now.

This is a variant of woodoo economy in Turkey, as the recent visit of Vik has shown.

  3. Just like the government’s policy of giving out cheap bribes/bags of potatoes to pensioners before an election….Oh look…the election date has just been set for April 3rd. What a coincidence!

  4. The great anti-communist crusader seeing positives in Chavista style populism before elections.

  5. > Orban’s critics say he and his Fidesz party have dismantled democratic institutions in Hungary, while trashing judicial independence and controlling the media.

Thanks Radio Free Europe. I wonder, Radio Free Europe, who those critics are and where they got those ideas. I remember Freedom House posting a lot on those subjects, do you think it was them, Radio Free Europe? Should I get Freedom House’s phone number for you Radio Free Europe, so you can discuss it?
