He sure won’t be grinning when the drugs wear off. Looks like he probably shredded all of the tendons and nerves that control the fingers of the left hand. From that wound just below the elbow it appears that his entire forearm got circumferentially degloved and the flap was reattached. That’s a nasty, life changing injury. At least he didn’t lose the arm at the elbow (yet), but he probably may as well have; it’s not likely to be useful for very much from now on. A prosthetic hook would probably be more utilitarian – and most likely will be the long term result. The complexion of the hand looks good – so there’s probably still decent circulation and that’s probably why he still has his left arm, but that’s not a guarantee he’ll keep it. That’s not likely to heal very well.
