Multiple states are sweating through heatwave conditions with the mercury predicted to soar close to 50C in parts of Western Australia.
Warnings have been issued to residents in NSW, South Australia and WA on Sunday to prepare ahead of uncomfortably high temperatures.
The Pilbara, in northern WA, a high of 48C is forecast in Mount Augustus and Paraburdoo and is expected to remain at about 40Cs until midweek.
120 F(reedom units)…. that is absolutely unsustainable year after year
Im sure everyone will be fine with this when they make money exporting beef and fossil fuels

A Miyawaki forest can buffer against extreme temperatures by up to 14.6°C/56°F within 2 years of being planted. That was discovered in a Miyawaki forest planted in the desert in Iran – it was 56°F cooler inside the forest than it was outside of it. They provide a refuge for creatures, plants, and humans as well, meaning if there is an extended power blackout you will be cooler outside in a Miyawaki forest than you will in a man made structure.

I took his course in 2021 and created a forest of my own. Nothing soothes my climate anxiety more – when I see headlines like this I tend to my trees. On the hottest days I like to sit within it watching all the creatures that have made my yard home. Installing a little pond massively increased my biodiversity.
I share this as a comfort that all is not lost. You can’t save everything but on the local level you can make a huge difference.
This also serves as a forecast for summer weather coming to the north.
