  1. The aul heart gave up on him. He was a strange lad all the same.

  2. I don’t think he did it…..I think was a piece of trash, likes of whom shouldn’t be allowed into the state,

but I don’t think he have the personality to handle killing someone and never reveal it to anyone

  3. How many people think he done it?

A man who got away with murder or a man driven to death by the gardai and press?

  4. It’d be some turn up for the books if he’s left a deathbed confession or info on another suspect.

  5. Used to see him sell jam down at the market, very strange character

  6. A sad end to a sad story.

We are left with two possibilities:

1)The murderer of Sophie has died
    and will never face justice,

2)He didn’t kill Sophie, spent his life hounded for a crime he never committed, and the real killer of Sophie will never face justice.

Dreadful stuff, especially for the son who has campaign so hard for a resolution.

  7. Goodnight sweet prince. He’s bludgeoning angels in heaven now x

  8. A very odd and narcissistic man. But I doubt he actually did it.

  9. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out…

  10. Preserve the brain. In the future we will be able to scan it and finally get some answers.

  11. good riddance, he beat his partner many times and there was never any other suspect for Du Plantier’s murder. Its difficult to have sympathy for a man that was violent against women.

  12. I’m definitely in the “he did it” camp. Can’t say 100% but damn close.

Woman beaten to death on a remote peninsula. Man with a history of violence to women, placed himself within a couple of miles of the murder in the night, had scratches on his arms, and had a little bonfire to burn clothes. His alibi for the night was sketchy as hell too – he got up in the middle on the night to work in a different building.

There’s never been another suspect to speak of.

So it’s good riddance to the murdering bastard.

  13. After all the podcasts and docs, the one thing that struck was how little hard evidence there was against him.
Which doesn’t mean he didn’t do it but really the police had nothing.

  14. One less person howling at the moon in West cork

  15. Oh thank god. Hopefully now I never have to hear about him ever again.

  16. I had one of the strangest experience in my life a few years ago in a pub in West Cork, when Bailey stood up and started to read his poetry.

It was truly terrible poetry, and nobody had really asked him to do it.

Although he was old looking and frail then, I would think he was a very strong imposing figure back in the day.

I still reckon he did it.

  17. I’d say the Gardai are delighted. They can continue with their lies without question. The Gardai over that case were an embarrassment to the state and they will be ones now shouting louder than ever that he did it. I feel sorry for the her family in France, they’ll believe the killer is dead.

  18. The more I’ve watched, read and listened to about the case, the less I think he did it. I think he was just bat shit crazy and loved the attention. The fact that Marie Farrell has never revealed who she in the car with that night is still the biggest red flag in my opinion.

  19. The whole story and garda investigation is crazy stuff, the ex english soldier and bar of hash is almost unbelievable stuff. Also the gate thing, i thought that for a while it might have been on some garda driveway somewhere until it got publicity.

  20. He was convicted by the French. He’s not a suspect. He was her murderer. Our justice system failed the victim here once again.

It’s a pity he never really saw the inside of a jail cell.

What are the odds that his ex partner will publish an OJ style confession of *If He Did It*?

  21. I’ve heard, from a fairly famous and quite reliable source in RTE, the belief behind the scenes is it was a cover up and the Gardai were in on it. Due to the fact that Sophie was having an affair with someone whose wife was none too pleased.

She was found with a clump of hair in her hand. The Gardai said it was her own? Suuuuuuure.

The wife killed her, the husband had the means to cover it up.
