Bosch is Betting Big on Hydrogen in Clean Energy Push. “Green hydrogen is essential if we want to make our world climate-neutral. It makes sense to use it in nearly every sector” – Dr Stefan Hartung, CEO & Chairman of the Board of Robert Bosch GmbH

I thought we’d moved past these [“swiss army knife”](https://grist.org/energy/why-the-swiss-army-knife-of-climate-solutions-is-so-controversial/) arguments. The thing about having a swiss army knife is that people don’t use them much at all if they have a choice; cos there’s almost always another better tool or knife for the job.
There are some genuine crucial use cases for green hydrogen and then there are some absolute dogs of use cases just designed to sustain fossil gas production and use.
I’m fine with this thinking and likely overemphasis on green hydrogen at this stage since there’s so little green hydrogen being produced relative to where it is likely actually useful that it’d probably take decades of exponential growth before we overdo it.
[This](https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/hydrogen-ladder-version-50-michael-liebreich/) is probably the best breakdown on where hydrogen makes sense that I’ve seen.
It’s not that there’s no use cases. But anyone who says “it makes sense to use it in nearly every sector” is simply lying to build a case for grift off government subsidies.
I hope they dont take it from fresh water
Is green H2 production a real industry or still in development?
Bosch is big, but are they trustworthy?
iirc Bosch created the software for VW et al. so that diesel cars could cheat at the exhaust measurements.
The hydrogen hype cycle is going strong.
