“Houston, We Have a Problem!”. China dominates the supply of US critical minerals. The United States Geological Survey estimates that China is the main producer of 30 of them. This includes a list of “war minerals” such as tin, nickel, platinum, or nitrates.

  1. USA limit access to their processors and other stuff and they can do something similar in return. Business as usual.

  2. Nitrates? Can’t people put pee in a spot for a while and it’s a residual product?

  3. China has been thinking this plan decades ago. They carefully crafted environment for politicians and environmentalists to ban most mining in the united states on both the local, state, and federal level. Once the United States closed down the mines, next step was to close down the processing plants. Hopefully we see the danger ahead and restructure our industrial output before it is too late.

  4. And they need us, currently, to buy crap from them, so meh. We will get it.

  5. Do these materials just not exist on US soil or we don’t want to pay full price for labor to mine them? The land mass of China and the US if fairly similar and the US has many more international friendly trading partners.
