“We don’t have to bug him but we’re totally going to do this, regardless of the fact that he would prefer we didn’t. Fuck ‘em, I need public recognition.”-Pauly Shore, the rest of the quote, probably.
So theres gonna be a full feature after the short film? NC
I have zero interest in watching Paulie Simmons play Richard Shore
Fuck Pauly Shore for this one. Hearing Richard Simmons has a quiet, peaceful life and you’re doing this against his wishes? My god man.
I saw the short film and thought Paulie did well. Gonna be interesting to see a full length feature. This may very well be a massive comeback for Paulie
You mean Paulie Shore, son of the founder of The Comedy Store.
They don’t want to “pay”him
I believe him – Pauly Shore hasn’t been funny in 30 years…
Honestly, after watching the short film and seeing Pauly Shore’s performance, I could see him doing a good job with a full length feature. I’m cautious, but optimistic. 🙂
Pauly Shore making a comeback as a dramatic actor might just push me over the edge.
The fact that he doesn’t have any official rights to Simmons’ story means any studio that was interested in his biopic could go around Shore and make the film without him with a more bankable star (and possibly Simmons’ official blessing). He said in an article they got a little money to find a writer to get a script written, but there are still a ton of hurdles before someone dumps millions into whatever his vision of a Simmons film would be.
Oh this buzz is to get funding for the movie. Now it makes sense
I didn’t love it or his performance in it but if he really works at it and had a budget for the makeup I could see it being good
As much as it’s nice to get an endorsement from the subject of a nonfiction film, I don’t think it is necessary or required. Oftentimes their involvement can lead to a heavily sterilized story, as was the case with Bohemian Rhapsody. I also don’t remember anyone saying “leave Mark Zuckerberg alone!” when The Social Network came out.
For better or worse, public figures are fair game for nonfiction storytelling. It seems like they are approaching this story with genuine care and authenticity and I hope it is a good and successful film.
No. You just want to use his likeness without permission for money and a chance at some more fame.
Fuck Pauly shore. Don’t watch it.
