Well, since a lot more important infrastructure is controlled by Chinese, Russian and Saudi, a French man controlling supermarkets really wasn’t that big of a threat
Wonder if other countries report when English billionaires buy up companies in their countries.
Controlling supply chains might seem very innocent but it’s just an additional trigger to pull at the right time to manipulate public opinion.
Just like Twitter and TikTok misinformation, we should hope that these potential subversive tactics are traced by our intelligence agencies to counter narratives. It’s quite possible to dramatically effect public opinion using a number of tools at key moment in time, such as elections. People who think it’s fine to sell off our key infrastructure and let misinformation flood our media should think again!
Obviously has more faith in Brexit than most Brits.
Last place I worked Ceva took over the running of it last year & I took redundancy, been temping since at a Wincanton place, I can’t escape them!
What about the Chinese building UK nuclear power stations, is that also a good idea? I think that was David Cameron’s idea.
Wincanton is a small player, most of the supermarkets have their own logistics, they are just used as a back up.
What’s more interesting, I didn’t bother to read the article, if it mentions this. Is Wincanton runs the inland border facility in Kent for vehicles coming in from France.
So France now has control of a UK border facility.
Ah the Torygraph. That bastion of common ground centrism….
Awwh. It’s nice he’s finally got a real job driving trucks.
Wincanton are more recently renowned for warehousing rather than haulage.
There are plenty of other big haulage companies in the UK that’ll happily take their market share if they’re run inefficiently – don’t worry. Good luck to them, logistics it’s a tough market with very tight margins.
