  6. I think the fact that it’s really hard to do a rom com sequel really helped kill the genre, which is a shame, some of the best comedies are romcoms. Everything now a days needs a sequel or franchise.

  7. My mom dragged me to see ‘Anyone But You’. It was the worst, cringiest shit I have ever seen in my entire life. No idea who decided to back this garbage. I wish someone could remove my memory of seeing it. The lead actress CANNOT act, it’s just so unbelievably bad.

  10. It’s a basic rom com with hot people. It’s good to have some semblance of the 90s and early 2000s rom com. It’s genuinely hard to see studio produced rom coms or general comedies with a good heart feeling anymore. Like early Adam Sandler work

  13. People look down on genres that don’t produce good movies. If a genre produces formulaic garbage people are going look down on it.

  14. I hope Glen Powell gets into some good roles and starts showing range. He’s got a lot of charisma, seems pretty nice, and barring any terrible extra-curricular activities a-la Jonathan Majors has a bright future ahead of him.

  15. Nothing wrong with Rom-Coms but I wish they were better. The genre has a few really enjoyable and sweet movies but generally they’re totally ass.

  16. supply and demand are the biggest issues though. if there is no demand then there is no need for supply. these days fewer people crave romantic comedy :/ it isn’t about looking down on them. i haven’t watched romantic comedy in years because i haven’t wanted to. i used to watch them all the time. the same happened with wacky slapstick comedy movies. people won’t just watch whatever you want to make… the people watch what they feel like watching.
