Is Schaffhausen more tax expensive than Zurich?
Hello, due the current renting price increase I am considering moving to Schaffhausen. I got an apartment in Schaffhausen (8212). Currently I live in Hottingerplatz (8032). People (Swiss included) are continuously telling me that taxes in schaffhausen are much higher that’s why it is cheap. Before accepting this apartment I wanna be sure to not miscalculate anything.
With a salary of 145k and 100k in assets, using the https://swisstaxcalculator.estv.admin.ch/#/calculator/income-wealth-tax
I find that the difference is about 682. That is not that much (+56 chf a month)
I am attaching the screenshots, am I calculating that wrong? I am B permit but this shouldn’t influence how much I pay.

A quick web search shows that tax in Zurich (5th place) is indeed lower but Schaffhausen (9th) is not far behind. (Source: [CS](https://www.credit-suisse.com/ch/de/articles/private-banking/steuerranking-der-kantone-und-gemeinden-so-viel-zahlen-natuerliche-personen-202307.html)). Schaffhausen recently decided to lower the Steuerfuss (Kanton level) by 8%, starting from 2024 (Source: [Züri Today](https://www.zueritoday.ch/zuerich/schaffhausen/kanton-schaffhausen-senkt-steuerfuss-um-acht-prozentpunkte-155072107)). Rents are definitely cheaper than in Zurich, because… it is not Zurich.
Zurich is a high tax commune in the canton of Zurich, Schaffhausen a relative low tax commune in SH. Compare Küsnacht or Neerach, vs. Beggingen or Trasadingen.
(If you really want to know high tax and low tax compare with Neuchatel and Zug, respectively)
Also take into account health insurance. SH might be cheaper than the city of Zurich.
