Hello,
I‘ll be living in Malta for a 3 year contract and can have my car, a left-hand drive Volvo XC-90, shipped there for free and take it with me when I go back home.
My questions – Are there many left-hand drive cars in Malta? What difficulties can I expect to encounter using a left-hand drive car in Malta?
I appreciate any comments.

What do you expect to happen that is so much different than the rest of the world? You can expect a lot of traffic as there are simply way too many cars in Malta and Malta doesnt need any more cars in traffic. Slight correction: You can expect a fuck ton of traffic, constant road works Between September to April, and be stuck in traffic jams quite regulary
Sell it (or keep it in your home country) and buy some average car in Malta for these 3 years.
You’ll just ruin this car (scratches, doubtful service quality, lot of heat and dust etc).
For 3 years you’ll have to change your registration plates to Maltese ones
Hey there! Sweet ride, although not much really to worry, cars are prone to any challenges globally ha. As left hand drive changing between right hand, if you drive both it, you’ll do fine, not much to fuss here over drivers here just take your time, as people tend to “bull-head” and drive on even if exiting any section in the country. This when left-hand drive, you have a bit more distance to foresee for when exiting.
For the large sized style car such as yours, from experience avoid tight parking spaces and corner parking spaces, as people here can be vindictive if they have to squeeze out, and have poor turning abilities with cars. Saved me hundreds versus many I know who got bitten.
Coming out of corners will be a bit problematic, as you’ll only have 2 to 3ft gap (pavement) from a building to the street. Corners at an angle larger than 90° will be worse for blind spots.
Source: drove my RHD in Sicily for 3 days. I can’t imagine doing it daily for three years. I found it easier to rent a LHD vehicle last time we went, depending on your skill you could adjust fairly quickly.
Id recommend just like the top comment and buying a simple cheap car here. Aggressive drivers, bad roads(potholes) and dirt rain and heavy heatwaves, along with the tight small roads are not a fun experience for that volvo.
