A big chunk of the current crisis seems to be rooted in denial of reality:
1. Ukraine will never join NATO/EU
2. Crimea will never return to Ukraine
3. Weapons sales to Ukraine will not thwart Russian aggression
4. Sanctions will not deter Russia
5. NATO will not fight for Ukraine
The only way to bring this crisis to cool off is to halt NATO expansion East, position Ukraine as a neutral buffer and reduce our forward operating activity in the Baltics. This creates a buffer of states between NATO & Russia and I suspect with that, we’ll see a cooling off of aggressive postures. Notice how the U.S reacted this week when Russia suggested basing forces in Cuba or Venezuela, they didn’t like that one bit because it’s a geo strategic military threat yet we expect Russia to roll over and accept ours.

1. Ask nicely
2. Threaten sanctions
3. Do nothing and cry
4. Blame Trump
5. Say the Republicans are obstructing
6. Blame white men
7. Blame Trump
8. Dispatch a carrier group to the South Pacific
9. Drone strike a hospital in Syria
10. Submit a bill to officially say “Russia Bad”
11. Send billions to Pakistani separatists in Kashmir
12. Shut down oil drilling in Alaska
13. Go to Camp David
14. Go to Delaware
15. Let Kamala handle it
16. Force the UN to hold a meeting to talk about it
17. Give an impassioned speech about freedom
18. Thoughts and Prayers
I figure that’s about the gist of it
