‘If Western support for Ukraine slows down there are real risks of territorial setbacks’

I’m standing in a trench system dug specifically for training purposes we’ve been filming Ukrainian soldiers training on the job men who’ve been here for many months they seem to have reasonably good morale but admitted that they were tired and would very much like to have a break

Before returning to active duty all over Ukraine people are talking about this need to relieve soldiers who’ve been on the front line for a very long time and to recruit more people this particular Battalion is hoping that it can attract um men with the quality of its training

And the communication with officers who describe the situation on the front line as stable but difficult it’s the Russians who have the initiative at the moment in the East they’re attacking all along the Eastern front line but for the moment Ukraine hasn’t suffered any major territorial setbacks I asked one of the

Officers here if he thought that that would continue and that we could consider towns like AA to be nevertheless safely in Ukrainian hands and he said no he said that if Western support slows down and the weapons stop coming there are real risks of major territorial setbacks for Ukraine and

That’s why people here are watching Ukraine’s diplomatic efforts very closely welcoming announcements by France and Germany um recently of increased military support and hoping of course that the United States will come through

Ukraine’s defence minister warned Thursday that the country faced a “very real and pressing” ammunition shortage in its grinding war with Russia as Western allies met in Paris to agree new artillery supplies. FRANCE 24’s Ukraine correspondent Gulliver Cragg reports from a trench system dug specifically for training purposes.

  1. Maybe it is time to let the Russians have Crimea and move on with life! No one in Crimea wants to be "liberated" by Zelenski anyways. Obviously, Ukrainians don't want to fight given how few of them are volunteering to join the military. NATO won't fight for them.

  2. Stop crying and settle your conflict with your neighbor, if you don't have weapons stop fighting, simple ,no one is going to suppose you forever

  3. Really, You still think ukraine will beat russia lol 😄, Keep dreaming and russia will not forget what you did against her 😉.

  4. Point is simple, you can’t rely on other people to support your entire livelihood for an unspecified time peeriod. With no ability to produce your own weapons, no economy to speak of, public salaries being paid by the west and yet…you arrogantly say you will never discuss peace?
Well just so you remember, we are far from November, and u cle Sam’s problems are enormous at present.other areas are burning higher than you are and Uncle Sam however resourceful cannot manage to keep you well feed and armed while simultaneously doing the same in Israel, Yemen, and all the other places

  5. How come the russians can take territory when they're "armed with shovels" as you (france24 and others) have said before?
