Perfect!
Populism by definition is what more than 50%, many times 60 or 70%+, of voters want. How anyone could spin people into believing this is a bad idea, in a democracy, is beyond me.
Tax the elites enough so the populace has proper healthcare and a good chance at prosperity. That will fix a lot of the growing dissatisfaction leading to populism
Its called bread and circuses
Thats assuming workers can afford food and shelter. Circuses on Disney+ doesnt help when youre homeless and hungry and/or cant afford to have kids.
When workers cannot afford to reproduce, and instead are being replaced by the most desperate from 3rd world countries (that were already exploited by imperialism) then there is no surprise that workers are against capitalism. Which always ends in “winner takes all”
Bread and circuses don’t work unless the bread is actually passed out, and the circuses don’t suck donkey butts.
Malaise is a gentle way of describing people’s feelings today.
The internet has given a lot of disgruntled people a way to connect and realize that their sentiment and experience is not unique.
It’s not unlike the conditions that led to the rise of the Nazi party.
I can only hope that as a society, we can handle the aftermath as well as the German people. I also hope that we don’t have to reach the same extremes before we get there.
And to the point, the elite class has contributed to these conditions. Many of us, here, included.
