  1. Seemed like a 50/50 call at first, leaning even more towards it being a handball. But I’m not so sure anymore.

    Looks like it hits shoulder. The way the ball bounces off Vini is pretty telling as well. I think it would be difficult to have such power and upward direction if it had hit his arm.

    By any means, not an easy or clear call. But jesus, by the way some people are reacting, you’d think we scored a “La Mano de Dios” goal.

    Would be great if someone posted it on r/soccer. They’re going mental lol.

  2. Literally the front/top of his shoulder, especially the way the ball hits his shoulder and Vini’s technique to hit with precision goes right into the goal, if it was not the shoulder the ball wouldn’t have the same impact into the goal.

  4. It’s fine, it’s on his shoulder, I think people are just frustrated because a bunch of the VAR decisions today actually went the way of Madrid. The only one I’m questioning is the pen Madrid got. Yeah, they’ve been given cause the arm is out, but for VAR to say it’s a clear error is a bit much. Defender really can’t do much there to get their arm out of the way. Otherwise the rest of the calls we’re valid and correct, it’s just the massive accumulation in one game.

  7. For me, and I’m bias, it’s more shoulder than arm. For Vini’s arm to pop the ball like that, it could have had to catch him closer to the elbow. In either case, this call is at the ref’s discretion and we had some bad calls against us too in that game (stomp on Bellingham for example that minimum yellow).

  11. A ball will not bounce that hard and high if it hits your biceps/triceps area since it’s a flat surface. your shoulder that is pointy will cause that, but apparently antimadridistas do not know their own anatomy or the rules of the sport they like watching

  12. People will see what they want. Its a clear shoulder and when fucking Hernandez Hernandez at VAR agrees its not debatable. People just dont want to see real madrid do well so much it clouds their judgement. Same as the ghost “offside” goal Bezema scored in the ucl final 2022 against Liverpool. Valverde never touches the ball and it bounces from two liverpool players to Benzema. If that was Liverpool back then or any other team than Real Madrid everyone would moan.

  17. I really tried to defend the goal over at r/soccer, however, after watching the game and seeing multiple replays with different angles, I’ve come to the conclusion that Vini hit the ball with his arm.

    This clip does not show the arm hitting the ball. There are other angles that show Vini hitting it with his arm. The goal should not have gone up, but it was probably a penalty because both defenders were holding him.

  20. its so obvious if you ever played on the pitch in real life with someone who was good enough and had this in their techniques. These two bald twins with alopecia were insane at this when we were growing up, would accurately pass it off their shoulder from a goal kick in like u13s and when other people would try and it used any part of the arm it would fly like shit
