If the republicans win, Trump has already stated he’d hollow out the democratic institutions and revert the US back to pure isolationism
If the democrats win, Trump will claim voter fraud again and incite an uprising, only this time the right-wing militias which have infested the US won’t be going unarmed to DC, but rather attack local government buildings.
Can the UN please send in observers to make sure it goes fairly?
Honestly, we are too deep in wars to need a civil war. I hate how Bernie wasn’t on the ballot…. Regardless, we do need voting reforms in the US. Gerrymandering is too strong, and we vote for representatives in the US through popularity, not direct votes or a merit system.

Yes it will. And the whole world knows it. China and Russia, obviously, will be pitching their weight and influence as Trump has signaled a very friendly posture to both should he win. So they’ll be doing shit. But they won’t be the only ones. So, hopefully, the EU does what they have to do to counter Russia, China, North Korea, South Africa, Turkey (maybe), Saudi Arabia (maybe), Iran, India (maybe, maybe not) and who knows who else. This is going to be an ugly, ugly time and, for fuck’s sake, I hope Americans have it in them to resist screwing it up. Because a Trump presidency will very likely result in the breakout of world war with America joining the bad guys.

Democracy has been put to the test for a while now, in Europe itself. Hungary hasn’t really been a democracy for a while now, while democratic institutions like the EU itself have been sabotaged by countries like Hungary, Slovakia and Poland (before they got this new government). In The Netherlands they are on track to get a fascist, Kremlin-sponsored, fascist Prime Minister who wants to demolish their ground laws (kind of a constitution), hold a binding referendum to leave the EU, and he is against supporting Ukraine. The EU already stopped taking the NL seriously, and they are wary of this person (Geert Wilders) and his party (PVV).
I’ve seen many posts here on Reddit claiming that Russia would be destroyed by NATO. And yes, that would be true *today*, but NATO might completely change within the next few years. And who is to say that a weakened NATO will come to the aid of a country getting attacked? Imagine that the US leaves, perhaps France in the future if Le Pen wins.. would you trust Turkey and Hungary to come to the aid of a Baltic state? And if several countries refuse to help, will other countries feel confident enough to step up?
Both financially and politically, many European countries are having struggles. NATO and the EU are in danger of crumbling within the next decade, and this may very well present a fantastic opportunity for Russia to invade more territory.
Despite the “GDP” memes of Russia versus that of the West, there is no guarantee that the West will stay united. In Europe, there also is no will to actually prepare for war. GDP means little when it isn’t actually being invested into war preparations.
Indeed, NATO is too strong for Russia, which is why they have not picked a fight. That is why they figured that they need to destroy the unity of these countries. Buy politicians, and leverage a disinformation campaign to sway voters. Now the countries are destroying themselves from within, and they cut ties with friends and allies.
Individually, European countries are no match for Russia.

Okay I don’t know if this take is controversial, I don’t consider it controversial but I’m willing to put my idea to the test:
I’m not someone that likes Donald Trump and I’m going to vote for Biden but I have to go on a limb and say just because Donald Trump wins the election doesn’t mean democracy is over.
Donald can indeed win the election and publically state that he wants to be a dictator – but just because he says that doesn’t mean he’s going to be able to do it.
#1: He’s going to face massive opposition, and by current trends he’s not going to be able to control all sections of legislature, the house & senate.
#2 The only way Donald can take over the country is by dissolving the institutions that regulate the amount of power any president could ever have, but that basically applies to every president that has ever been elected, but that goes back to #1, if he’s going to face stiff resistance, he’s not going to go very far in his goals of achieving total control.

NATO & the EU should come up with many useful alternatives to defend European security & peace even if the US won’t support the EU anymore. So far the EU has been making very peaceful moments through the US’s military power. If things are getting worse, America can’t protect and support Europeans’ peace and their territories.
Because former US President Trump used to say “Europeans didn’t pay enough for America’s military organizations particularly, Germany didn’t pay for the US defense service”. To tell the truth, NATO wouldn’t become an eternal military defense group for the EU if the next US administration seeks Trump’s political slogan “MAGA”. Nobody protects friends’ lives and properties instead of themselves for good.
Look at the case of the Polish government. They realized the fact that if Poland didn’t have enough physical power to keep its sovereignty, the nation might become the 2nd Ukraine. There are many nations located at the borders with a few hostile nations like Russia, China, IR Iran, North Korea, and aggressive Islamic groups like Hamas or Houthis.
Those nations should have powerful military units to protect their everything. Without military power, can’t protect their lives and towns. Generally speaking, evil thugs, villains, and mobsters won’t attack heavy-armed vigilantes since they already know the result. That’s why the EU should build another defense group instead of NATO regardless of America’s influence.
Democracy in the US has already failed, not for stupid reasons like “they might not stand with the EU”, but because whether the winning president aligns with the popular vote is a game of chance at this point, one that already produced 4 presidents who lost it in the past, 2 in recent history.
* Due to how the electoral college works, small states have less voters per electoral vote. It reaches magnitudes of 1 voter in a certain state is worth 3-4 voters in another state.
* The winner takes all system in most states means that minority votes in those states don’t matter at all (I believe there’s one state that tries distributing its votes sort of proportionally).
* The states themselves are further gerrymandered to create possibility where a state goes with its minority vote.
That’s not even accounting for the 2 party system which created a situation where people choose between a right wing party and a more moderate right wing party. The US has no real political left.
They should’ve called that out the minute the Supreme Court allowed money into politics.
Trump wouldn’t even exist in this environment if that law wasn’t allowed to pass 👍🏽
