* *for a given value of restaurant…*
I’m sat in a Toby Carvery having inhaled a good portion of my body weight in bacon and Yorkshire puddings.
It strikes me there aren’t many places that ‘do’ breakfast unless you have a good local caff…
McDonalds is perfect when you are in the mood (egg muffin is better than sausage/bacon muffins, fight me)…
Some hotels do breakfasts but has anyone just gone in for a breakfast..?
So near me if I want to sit down and eat it’s Toby.
What am I missing? What else is out there in BreakfastLand that’s worth a fork?
Photo of obligatory shared toaster which is never *quite* on the right settings

For me it’s Wetherspoons. There’s something special about a fry up with a pint of lager.
You can eat at any Premier Inn for breakfast without being a guest. Good value too.
McDonald’s for me.
Double Sausage and Egg McMuffin meal with an orange juice & hash brown, extra sausage patty, plus bacon, extra cheese. **And** a bacon roll meal with pineapple stick and coffee.
Brown for first course, white for pudding. Brown’s savoury, white’s the treat… Of course I’m the one who’s laughing, because I actually love Brown toast!
Premier Inn is the only answer. All you can eat/tea/coffee for a tenner with all the continental and cooked options. Bliss.
I love Boston Tea Party. I know of one in Birmingham, Solihull, and Stratford-on-Avon. I think there are more elsewhere, but not sure.
They do a good fry up, and they do lovely pancakes as well.
You need to find a good local caff!
We have a local cafe (alot if local cafes however there’s one that truly stands out).
Ran by an elderly couple but what they do is always top knotch, breakfast, lunch, milkshakes, desserts. All banging and I tell people about it all the time, just a Shane it’s hidden away down a jitty
Harvester is usually my go to if I want a buffet breakfast. They come round and ask what you want, so everything is at least slightly fresher than a Toby.
A Lounge is my usual go to though for a full English, as its decent and you can get Halloumi added which is incredible when hungover. Also lots of other options of people don’t want a cooked breakfast.
I rarely have breakfast outside. If I do its usually for pastries later in the morning at a local coffee shop.
I’ve never seen a perfectly working conveyer belt toaster though. It’s either set so low it’s like someone breathed onto the bread, or turns your bread into coal.
I think most of the Mitchell and butler brands do breakfast – harvester or browns and all bar one for a posher breakfast
Beefeater, 2 kids eat free with a paying adult, so 3 breakfasts for £10, juices and tea/coffee included. Really good value.
Bakers oven, pre rebadging
There’s not many of them but Moose Coffee is fucking incredible.
There’s a few pubs near me that do decent breakfasts. There’s a bakers called Trotters for a decent breakfast sarnie.
I love Toby’s, it’s so cheap and not too bad for the price
Tony carvery, only place that does Yorkshire pudding bacon ‘rolls’
Betty’s Cafe & Tea Rooms, Harrogate
Egham Golden Cafe.
You can beat a set 5 with fried bread.
I enjoy The Breakfast in the Tesco cafe when I do the big shop each month. Just the right portion size and it’s very tasty.
I have a novatel about 100m from my flat and on too good to go I can get 2 meals worth of food any morning for £6
Subway, bacon egg and cheese, with a coffee. Sometimes on offer, but only around £3.50.
Cherry Red’s Cafe Bar in Birmingham is pretty good.
The bus station cafe in Hereford if you just need a plate of grease after waking up in a doorway.
Roy’s Cafe in Leominster behind the library. Conveniently located near the Jobcentre.
Uplands Diner in Swansea is solid.
Mac & Jac’s in Malvern is nice.
Not a fan of anywhere trying to do posh breakfast.
JJ’s Diner.

Want a full Scottish breakfast on some pancakes.. here you go.
Love this place when I’m up in Scotland
Stonehouse £5.99 all you can eat and unlimited filter coffee for £1.99.
Some random cafe in Cardiff that does a fucking spectacular full English for a fiver
Edit: Finally found it, Ford Cafe in Llanrumney
Spoons. Food might not be top shelf but it’s fairly decent value and you can have a pint too!
Toby is mine. Stonehouse Carveries used to be good, haven’t had one for ages though so they might have gone downhill.
I like being able to pick my own bacon. The sausages probably won’t win any awards but they’re perfect for breakfast. And yeah, that toast conveyor belt roulette for a bit of drama and excitement. Can’t beat it.
toby or beefeater 100%. toby has the slight edge for me just as the bacon yorkshires are glorious! also if you go on a sunday they have pancakes 🤤
There’s a fantastic place in Halifax called Hatch Brunch House, they just do breakfast/brunch foods and amazing coffee. So good!
Local sooon on an industrial estate or the Hilton breakfast is hard to beat
Local tearoom does a great breakfast, everything tastes very fresh and the coffee is smooth af.
TC is good, I like a place where there no shame when I’m on a hunger quest. I love the breakfast after a night in a premier inn too, limitless and I can have what a fancy & then go back to bed until 12pm check out.
