To his defense, I too fell asleep during John Wick chapters 3 and 4. In the theater. Not because they were bad, but because I’ve come to learn that big action movies somehow lull me to sleep.
What he’s saying is that the Barbie movie is good without the foisting of Barbie trademarks on the script. It could stand well as an original movie
The talents of Gosling, Gerwig etc.. can make new IP and franchise Zoomers can call their own instead of recycling and playing it safe with characters that were created almost 100 years ago.

So, people like to watch different things. What’s wrong with that? Some people like Barbie. Some people like war epics. Some people like horror. Shock horror, many people like multiple genres.
What’s annoying is when everything is so similar, just another millionth Marvel adaptation or something like that. Variety is good, originality is good.
People say he has no relevance, and yet, here Deadline made an article from an interview conducted six months ago because they know it will create outrage.
Seeing your heroes of the past turn into grumpy old men longing for “the better days of their past” is rough.

I never like cinema snobs. You can think that Terminator 2, Die Hard, John Wick are just as enjoyable to watch as The Godfather, Goodfellas, and Casablanca. They are different genres but I find entertainment in all of them. And while I didn’t like Barbie if someone else did then great make your list and enjoy
