    > “I did a sex scene with an A-list actress – not Nicole Kidman, who was brilliant – and she implied, in front of the crew, that I was copping a feel. Because she didn’t like me. It was fortunate that happened to me before the Harvey Weinstein stuff came to light, so I wasn’t put in the stocks for it. But I’ve never felt more betrayed by a fellow actor than I did that day.”

    > “I have to say to you that I would sooner have put my hands in a food blender than copped a feel of that person. It was an abuse of power, what she did. I don’t think that would have happened with an intimacy coordinator on set. I could have been accused of all manner of things… that’s about what passes between actors, with trust and the abuse of it.”

  2. I feel like every day I learn ANOTHER reason why intimacy coordinators are so necessary on set. It’s crazy that productions operated without them for so long

  3. Regardless of the kind of weird tone of this, I think everyone can agree that having intimacy coordinators on set is an excellent development when it comes to film/TV production. It’s good for everyone to feel more comfortable on set and know what the boundaries are, and it lets people express personal boundaries around filming intimate scene to a neutral party if they need to.

  4. Turned into quite the complainer in his later years.

Ran out of work due to being hard to work with Chris??

  5. U should name her to get her back. Probably has done this before and since….

  6. Sounds like he doesnt think hes guilty but probably unintentionally violated the person

  7. If there’s one person I know would never do something like that, it’s Chris Eccleston. That man is nothing if not principled.

Also my two cents: I work in the industry and am close to two of the UKs handful of ICs… Their work is still seriously under appreciated yet entirely vital for absolutely everyone on set. Their job often gets eyebrow raises from people who’ve never stepped on set which is entirely frustrating, I’d like to see those folk try act out simulated sex scenes in front of dozens of strangers and hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of studio lighting and camera gear showing every nook and cranny.

  8. Eccleston is very genuine and more than a little blunt. This statement is entirely in keeping with how I’ve seen him speak at conventions. He always speaks his truth – even to a convention full of fans, he was very open that he came back mainly for the money and didn’t say it in a joking manner.

After the allegations came out about Barrowman, it’s been speculated his behaviour was at least partly why he was forced out of Doctor Who, being one of the many issues Eccleston had with how the show was run.

I have no doubt he’s being entirely sincere in his statement, though I won’t dismiss the possibility the actress did feel violated as we’ve only heard one side of the story at this point.

  9. Given that he’s one of the most principled actors currently working I’m inclined to believe him. You’ve got wonder whether it’s just a coincidence that someone with such strong conviction ends up dealing with so much unprofessionalism or whether it’s happening all the time and he just calls it out more 😮‍💨

  10. This can’t be hard. How many sex scenes has this guy done?

  11. Didnt he just have a sex scene with Jodie Foster in True Detective last night?
