By 1926 Soviet census, on the territory of RSFSR lived 7,87 million Ukrainians. In 1926-1945 years, several millions more were deported and evacuated. Not to mention 2014 year.
Decades after, all of this 10+ Ukrainians just disappeared. Or more precisely, began to deny existence of Ukrainians and kill them.
When Russia talks about “liberation of European Russian-speakers, Slavs, Christians from Anglo-Saxon satanists and pedophiles”, it foremost talks about its desire to do the same with all Europe nations.
In the context of WW2, not to kill Jews, but to convert Jews to Jews-deniers, and for resisting ones – Jews-killers.
Almost as it was with “consolidation of lands for more efficient tax collection for Mongols”, “protection of principalities from Catholics”, “Moscow – third Rome”, “only Orthodox Christians are real Christians”, Pan-Slavism, with “feudal-socialism” World’s Revolution and “creation of Soviet Man” claims, narratives, attempts.
But now with little more actual religious, conservative, far-left/right ideological wrappers.

That’s not really the way I see it. Kiev was founded some 4 centuries before Moscow. So technically Russia is a breakaway province of Ukraine, and should really be reigned in and reclaimed. The Russian Language is actually just a corrupt offshoot of Ukrainian, spoken by people who don’t have the capacity to deal with the nuances offered in Ukrainian.
Russian-speakers really just need a proper education, and Russia keeps sending them to the meat-grinder that is Russian Occupied Ukraine, to receive that proper education.

This is a good tactic. It was always projection that among Russia’s stated goals was protection for Russian speakers and freedom to learn and practice Russian culture. All the while, Russia continually attacks other languages and cultures, especially of those of nations it plans to invade and ‘assimilate’.
Ruthenia will rise again.
As one of the several nations that have declared independence from the British Empire, I start to worry when people start talking about historic claims to territory.
Everybody knows that half the world belongs to Spain and the other half to Portugal.
All of Russia is historically Portuguese according to the highest authority at the time, The Pope.
Either that or Mongolian depending on how far you go back.
Have we tried just letting the animal herding nomadic warlords rule over the whole region again?
They led the region to its longest and most prosperous era of recorded history, only makes sense to have them take over the job again now.
