So, the referee commitee has leaked a VAR conversation to Barsa’s unofficial spokesman

  1. To put a bit of context: This is about Vini apparently knocking an Almeria player in an action (I don’t remember if he was trying to score or not). Hernández Hernández, the VAR referee (and not a friend of us, btw), sees it as a normal action and doesn’t intervene.

    – Only intervened actions are allowed to be published. This isn’t one of them.

    – Barsa Twitter is trying to present this as “proof” of a deliberate manipulation of the game by the VAR to favor RM.

    – As the twitter post says, we don’t know if the audio has been altered or if it’s even complete.

    – Gerard Romero (the journalist and Laporta’s social media mouth) says he also has the images, so those were leaked as well.

    – Romero [acknowledges](https://x.com/HdeHelena_RM/status/1749505895879344311?s=20) that he received the leak through whatsapp.

    – Now the referee commitee now [states](https://x.com/carrusel/status/1749498773137445050?s=20) it’s starting an investigation on the matter.

So this is a violation of the rules, with no guarantee that a manipulation hasn’t taken place, and which doesn’t even prove that the referees deliberately corrupted the match. Why has this taken place, who leaked it and why to the Barsa entourage.

  2. Redirecting the attention to their proved ongoing bribing case to something else is the most basic, cheapest and lowest tactic… Surely they know this right?

  3. It’s Spain, so nothing will probably happen. But it would be hilarious if this backfired on them horribly, like “used as proof in the Negreira case” horribly.
