As it became known, in the 3rd season of the HBO series “White Lotus”, the cast will include actor Milos Bykovic. This guy of Serbian descent is known for starring in Russian TV series where he played a Serb who was sad because of the war in his homeland. Spoiler: “bad NATO” is the leitmotif of this guy’s use in Russian propaganda.
In addition to Milos, we know at least one other friend of Russia, Emir Kusturica, a Serbian director who was personally honored by Putin for popularizing the Russian language, but not only it.

Such persons do not disdain to sacrifice their own morality for the sake of Russian money and willingly support Kremlin myths, such as the idea that the reason for the NATO bombing of certain countries of the former Yugoslavia was anything but no aggression and subsequent ethnic cleansing carried out by Serbs against other peoples of Yugoslavia in order to build a “greater” Serbia.

Here we need to dive into history a bit to understand the context.
Ambitious imperial ideas have been fueled in Serbia for years, including from the communist Kremlin. The Soviet Union, with its central government in Moscow, has always had the resources to spread its influence around the world, but not always to improve the lives of the peoples it controlled. Obviously, the scheme was to be the same as that of the Russians with the Ukrainians: to prevent the development of the nations that were part of Yugoslavia by assimilating them all under the leadership of Serbia. As we know, the Soviet secret services operated throughout Europe, and the so-called elder commie-brother mentored the Serbs as best he could. However, it is far from certain that, having captured all the countries that separated imperial Moscow from the Balkan Peninsula at that time, they would not have decided to annex it just like they had all the previous ones country’s.
If it’s happened, the conversation could have gone like this:
“Well, look, Serbs, you wanted a great Serbia, but you will get a great Russia. Isn’t it great?
– Well… we…
– We are very happy that you like it. ”

Russian imperialism has been pursuing the Balkans since the time of Catherine II, under the auspices of the “Greek Project” of 1780, Russia aimed to gain control of the Bosporus and Dardanelles.
Russia needed to justify its desire for conquest.
For this purpose, ethnic Greeks living in the territories that Russia had already captured at that time were used. A number of cities in the south of Ukraine were also renamed in the Greek manner, including: Odesa, Kherson, and Mariupol.

Fortunately, in the 18th century, as later in the 20th century, imperial Russia did not succeed in capturing the Balkans ( yet 🙂 ). But Moscow has obviously not lost its desire to do so.

So, let’s get back to the present. Specifically, to Milos Bykovic. This guy, like many others who help Russia spread its propaganda, supported Russia’s full-scale attack on Ukraine in February 2022. Anyone who reads the news could hardly have missed all the crimes that Russia has committed against Ukraine over the years. Including against the civilian population.
Regular shelling of high-rise buildings, destruction of critical infrastructure and historical sites. The scale of the casualties and destruction that Russia has brought to Ukraine has long since exceeded those caused in Yugoslavia by the Serbs and NATO combined. And this in no way diminishes the tragedy in the Balkans. It only points more to the cynicism and indifference to human life on the part of Russia and those who support its genocidal policy.

Today, Serbia supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine and does not support Russia’s invasion. And this is really great.
But we cannot remain silent about individual propagandists.

Among them is Milos Bykovic, who in 2021 received Russian citizenship as a reward for promoting the Kremlin’s imperial narratives. And today, he is being lobbied to appear in the White Lotus series produced by HBO, one of the most popular Western services. The series is produced by the countries against which Milos Bykovic is helping Russia to sow hostility and aggression.

What will happen to the free world if people who support wars and genocide, who help to spread propaganda and whitewash war crimes, are allowed to act in Western films? All these horrible and bloody crimes will be normalized. And this is exactly what Russia needs, because the aggressor does not want to be noticed, it wants to remain unpunished and move forward. Until it gets to everyone it can.
