  1. This is the mental thing about the Council tax freeze – Council’s don’t have freeze it. They can decline the Scottish Government’s chunk of money and insist on raising their Council tax to whatever is needed. There will be a political hit on 10%+ Council tax rises though

  2. I can’t understand why SNP supporters are defending the freeze.

It puts more money back into the pockets of the wealthy and into wealthy areas, those who often aren’t reliant on public services anyway, and strips £300m from the services low income families rely on the most. Isn’t this supposed to be the sort of thing the Tories do?

I’m sure that 53p a week for low income households will be a relief when all the services around them are closing down.

Just overhaul council tax like you’ve been promising for 16 years, or target wealth by making people in mansions pay more than people in a normal family home based on its price in 1991.

  3. We are already the highest taxed nation in the UK with some of the worst public services. Its about time Tartan Temple dwellers did something positive with the money they have and stop wasting the hard working tax payers, hard earned money on stupidity, you know the sort of thing, useless over priced ferries, pretendy embassy’s, indy leaflets, mobile homes for the faithful, male rapists in the women’s jail, drug deaths and so on, the list of failure is appalling. Keep taxing the hard working to death though and watch the entrepreneurs and business developers leave Scotland for much more favourable circumstances south of the border or abroad.

  4. Yeah, they really need the money to keep sitting with their thumbs up their arses and refuse to do their jobs.
