Three vlachs from the Transylvanian Highlands, year 1894

  1. Clothing similar to Polish highlanders. When I was on a trip in high Tatras in middle school, our guide made this connection, claiming that there was some Vlach settlement but I don’t know how true was that. More probably it’s just common in Carpathians.

  2. Three vlachs? From Transilvania? That would be strange considering that Vlachia is the south region of Romania. The correct term would be Ardelean

  3. I remember reading *Dracula* and Stoker writes about this manner of dress, the belts specifically, as Harker notes in his journals on his way to castle dracula

  4. I’m reminded of Mexico for some reason. Maybe it’s the galero-looking hat that kinda looks sombrero-ish.

And the moustaches. These dudes could’ve been running with Pancho Villa.
