>I would also say one other thing that I think is very important that Tony — you mentioned Secretary Blinken’s comments at the beginning of the week. He said something at the end of last week that I want to underscore, which is that our intelligence community has developed information — which has now been downgraded — that Russia is laying the groundwork to have the option of fabricating a pretext for an invasion, including through sabotage activities and information operations, by accusing Ukraine of preparing an imminent attack against Russian forces in Eastern Ukraine.
>We saw this playbook in 2014. They are preparing this playbook again. And we will have — the administration will have further details on what we see as this potential laying of a pretext to share with the press over the course of the next 24 hours.
It’s gonna be a “Ukraine shelled our territory, so we now have a casus belli to attack” strategy probably… sad to imagine actually how easy it would be to fabricate a reason for war. Hopefully nothing happens.
Fuck Putin.
The Kremlin will shell Moscow, blame it on America, invade Vladivostok and declare war on Ukraine.
If Russia dare step foot on Ukrainian territory again they should be cut off from all western technology, stock/financial markets, secondary capital markets, and straw real estate purchases
Then the Russian banks should be blocked from the SWIFT system— bringing their energy export industry to its knees
Finland and Sweden will then join NATO, turning the Baltic Sea into a NATO controlled lake
If Vladimir Putin is such a fan of history -as he purports to be- he needs a refresher on what happened to Mussolini and Hitler after they lost the war
Just saying: The same play unfolded in 2008 in Abkhazia. The invasion started on 08 August, on the first day of the Beijing olympics. Guess what will start This year on 04 February? Winter olympics in Beijing.
So many things going on right now for the U.S to deal with it’s insanse.
North Korea has been testing missiles over the last couple days including hypersonic ones according to South Korea.
Iran has put out a clear threat that an attack on the U.S. Homeland could be coming if the U.S. does not arrest Trump and hand him to Iran.
China has been flying over Taiwan’s airspace at an increasing rate. The U.S will be deploying technicians to Taiwan to ensure their patriot defence missiles are in good shape.
And the list goes on and on, Venezuela, Haiti, Ethiopia, Bosnia and so on.
The morning president briefing must be crazy these days
Sounds like an American tactic before invasion
See: Iraq
the new russian facism is a threat to europe. the answer must be extreme on this.
Watch out in those Ukrainian radio stations just across the border.
Not for nothing, but if I were a so-called separatist living on annexed land near Ukraine’s current border, [I would be really worried about Russian artillery right about now] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shelling_of_Mainila).
Why not just accuse them of producing secretly nuclear weapons?
unfortunately I dont believe that Ukraine, like Taiwan, will have a happy ending in the long term. Everything seems to indicate that Russia and China are planning a simultaneous attack on their targets.
Russia being Russia.
“Russian forces in Eastern Ukraine” – how does this sound?
But still, Russia is the one feeling threatened….
I’m surprised the white house is linked here seeing how much the United States is ridiculed in this sub.
I wish Europe all the best in the coming weeks. 100,000 troops geez.
But…. why are there russian forces IN eastern ukraine?
>accusing Ukraine of preparing an imminent attack against Russian forces in Eastern Ukraine
Wait, so they stopped pretending Russian soldiers aren’t there?
I don’t understaind Ukraine is sovereignn country, why they aren’t allowed to pick sides?
I remember then two weeks before all thus protests in Ukraine, russian duma accepted the law on easier integration of foreign territories into their own.
By that time it sounded funny to me…. and how strongly i was wrong.
couldn’t we do joint European military exercises near kaliningrad?
And this sub will gobble up whatever vodka-infused incoherence moskals cook. Nothing new here.
> Ukraine of preparing an imminent attack against Russian forces in Eastern Ukraine
then they will have officially admit they are the invaders.
I was curious what Russia was going to do.
If you’re going to fake being attacked, it would make sense to not do a month of military buildup before.
They sort of have missed the window to sounds credible. But I doubt Russia will let that stand in the way.
We found Iraqi WMD’s in Ukraine – Russia probably
Shelling of Mainila
“My troops are just passing by”
This is why Ukraine should go big brain and preemptively invade Chad.
I can smell a sudden influx of reddit users that will be posting a lot of pro-putin content
Now, it is Ukraine, tomorrow it will be one of the Baltic countries. Make no illusions, there is no reason for Putin to stop. Fun times. Imagine what is going to happen, when China starts doing this sort of thing.
Typical Russian: Oh no! Ukraine is shooting at us with rifle, quick, nuke their entire country!
Putin is the only one who motivates me to study harder. Leaving college is no more an option since I would be drafted lmao.
>against Russian forces in Eastern Ukraine
What are those doing there to begin with?
“How dare you shoot at the hostile soldiers we put in YOUR country?!”
“accusing Ukraine of preparing an imminent attack against Russian forces”
What is really sad, they know world will not buy it but same as with Gleiwitz incident, it wouldn’t even matter…
Hmm, but I thought Russian forces never crossed the Ukrainian border 🤔
Putin is losing popularity fast now due to how he and his party has handled Corona in Russia. He really wants a distraction. I really hope this piece of shit has a smidge of sanity left in him to not start a war in the middle of Europe to solve this popularity issues.
We are fucked
Russia has not changed in over three hundred years in this regard has it?
“The 2020s cannot possibly become worse, right guys?…guys?”
Hypothetically what is stopping Ukraine from asking for help from the EU and the EU then moving troops into Ukraine to discourage a Russian attack? Why aren’t or leaders offering assistance to Ukraine? I feel like this is appeasement all over again.
Accusing Ukraine of preparing to attack hostile forces inside their own country?
Don’t understand the comments here who think its valid to make whataboutisms with past US foreign policy (especially in regards to Iraq 2003 as far as I’ve seen). As if it invalidates Russia’s aggression in this affair, the behavior and negotiation tactics of the Kremlin with their ridiculous demands show their unwilling to make any compromise. This potential scenario by the national security advisor frighteningly doesn’t seem thar far off. Good share OP 👍
Russiagate!
