Its well within our range and my lad loves anything dinosaur related, it’s the caves I’m wondering about as non of us like crowds

  1. Took our son, also 5, last year and he seemed to enjoy it.

Wasn’t mind blowing, but a nice enough afternoon out.

  2. Enduring happy memories from early childhood – an absolute must!

  3. He will love the dinosaurs. Try to go at an off-peak time. It will be crowded in the summer. Every Welsh kid has to go to Dan Yr Ogof, it’s the law 🙂

  4. The caves are not huge but the petting zoo is great.

  5. We stayed in the campsite there when my daughter was about 5. She loved it.

The petting zoo is excellent, the dinosaur park is a bit worn, but still good. Panning for gold was fun and the caves themselves are a bit of a trek but really cool.

  6. The caves are pretty cool, it is a lot of walking, and unless you go peak summer it shouldn’t be too crowded

  7. Definitely. I can vividly remember going when I was very young.

  8. Had a dinosaur mad kid around that age an he loved it. There is enough there for a day out but as its all on an incline little legs can get tired. Do dinosaurs and caves first then the downhill farm and play after.

  9. It’s great don’t worry about crowds too much make sure to dress for the cold inside the caves though, does get chilly even during very hot weather

  10. Took my daughter last year when she was and she really enjoyed it (but did get a bit freaked out in one cave). Had lunch in the pub down the road afterwards (Pen y Cae Inn) – it has a zoo out the back which was a real hit with her.
