Visualization of what the entire complex will look like after reconstruction. Then photos showing what the square looks now. Next what the Palace looked like before the war and finally what was left of the building after germans blew it up in 1944.

  1. As a Pole, i wish they wont rebuild it in any case. It is so unnecessary, there are so many different needs.

  2. As a critic of the rebuilding of the Berlin Castle, it can really be worth it if they manage to find a modern use for it.

The new Caste in Berlin is just a great place, visually and culturally

  3. Correct me if i am wrong, but talks about the reconstruction started way before the new goverment.

  4. Fuck no.

There are 100s of more worthy buildings to be rebuild.

Ruins of this serve as a tomb of unknown soldiers, and it’s a beautiful symbol.

  5. It’s funny because when they were in opposition they were against the restoration plans and called it a waste of money by PiS government.

Can’t remember which of their politician said this and I’m quoting from memory.

It actually summarizes polish domestic politics quite well. Opposition always criticizes the government only to do the same once they get into power.

  6. So that’s where my tax money gets spent on. In stead of having cheap and effective public transportation the Poles can piss it away on ego projects. Nice.

  7. Yes. This Palace is an important part of Warsaw and Polish history. City will become more interesting to visit

  8. Amazing, have they announced what the functions of the building will be? 🙂

  9. Implying that this is thanks to our new government is extremely funny to me. They were the most vocal against the restoration when the project started.

  10. I just wish they would rebuild it in the Polish style from before the partitions, and not this russian ‘palace’ that was built in it’s place.

  11. O, I see this country only got worse since I left it.

  12. Good. Something worthy for generations to preserve. Wish my country would do such things

  13. Germany should fund it, since they destroyed it in the first place.

  14. Nobody had mentioned the Humboldt in Berlin. It suffered a similar fate at the hands of the DDR. Was totally destroyed and the rubble pushed into the cellars. Was replaced with a steel, glass and asbestos box which was pulled down as unsafe. The original building was rebuilt as a museum and house of the people. It’s a wonderful place and I hope the same happens for this site.

  15. Nobody cares, it’s useless

People want high speed rail, decent airport (CPK), and moving up the supply chains

    $$$ not some LARP buildings

  16. Finally, this is a long due restoration! Congratulations to my Polish friends.

  17. Farmers be like: halp! Militarys be like: halp! Ukrainians be like: halp! Polish government: mhmhmh, let’s waste money for the palace!

  18. Why invest in infrastructure when you can build a building to make room for new clerks to do their beurocratic work… I don’t care whose idea this is, we have bigger problems to spend money on

  19. Which Polish government? I’ve heard y’all have two lol

  20. Personally, I’m glad. Was worried the new government would scrap this plan. It will surely cost quite a bit of money, but it will add a lot of beauty to central Warsaw and restore some heritage.

    Currently, that square is underutilized
