Stats like these never made much sense to me because each person will retire where they want and where they feel best. Some people will retire in Luxembourg, others in Southern Europe (like Spain which is missing from this list entirely), heck even down here in Ecuador there are many European retirees too, especially Dutch people. On RTL “Lëtzebuerger am Ausland” they showed a few Luxembourgers who retired in French Polynesia and other faraway places worldwide. Almost nobody will decide where to retire based on one of these online lists. People will decide based on personal preferences (homeland, more sun, something new and exotic for the last years of your life, prefer staying at home close to your kids and family, prefer going down to the South of Europe only in winter, etc.) There are so many different personal reasons to choose a retirement place and a list is not really going to change your personal preferences.
