Amazing that it took Americans nearly 4 years to spend their stimulus checks. Kind of shows just how wealthy a huge portion of the population actually is relative to everyone else. I guess it makes sense if every condo near me is worth at least half a million dollars and a townhouse starts at 3 million.

My “saving” as in account with a bank is depleted, but because they are not paying interest on deposits. So, I like to keep my credit union at between a 3 and low 4 digit operation.
Nobody should have $20,000 that’s not getting 5% interest. People can get that at Fidelity, with both FDIC insured CDs and treasuries. So, there is no difference in the protection of the account if one desires the same as a bank. And I noticed on Fidelity, a nice new chatbot that makes navigating that site a lot easier.
TL:DR – Some of the depletion of savings at banks is due to the banks not offering a competitive interest rate on savings.

This is going to come back to hurt President Biden unless he starts cancelling student loan debt quickly.
People remember broken promises when they go to the voting booth (or fill out their mail in ballot). Folks are stupid enough and vindictive enough to vote against their own interests if they feel ignored.
