Remember that advert a couple of years ago from the TV licence authority that had a woman down and out living on the streets because she didn’t have a licence and the threat of jail if you don’t get one?
I’ve read somewhere that sheriffs in Scotland are refusing to entertain prosecutions, and it’s been only something like 2 people in Scotland the last few years that have been stood in a dock.
I myself about 15 years ago was one. The sheriff made a point as to how it was nonsense and fined me fifty quid. No order to get one and he actually asked what I could afford.
I remember a work mate years ago when the TV detector van, with the dish on top, was in the street. He stripped naked, drew a pentagram on his chest with the wifes lipstick, and when they chapped his door, stood shouting ” I will not have that instrument of Beelzebub in my house .”
Worth a try.
I wonder if anyone pays the fee and how much they spend on that correspondence.
You’d think they’d hush up given how absurd it is people need to pay a licence for TV.
TV License is outdated, I know many people object to paying for whatever it pays for, but if the government insist we need to raise those funds then it should be an uplift on income tax, national insurance, or add it to Council tax if you want it on a per property basis.
Yeah, unfair on people who don’t have a TV, or don’t watch the BBC, but that’s the way tax works.

I don’t have kids, but I still pay to educate yours. Paying for TV content shouldn’t be down to the lowest common denominator, or its wall to wall love island and shit for talent.
Would you stream the council telly if you didn’t have to?
Mad how much effort our society wastes on a dying media format, I mean you don’t see me sending out death threats to cunts who no longer own a fucking record player.
Yeah ok.. I’ll come clean, I’ve sent a few but I don’t have an entire department and third party contractors dedidcated to it.
