  1. “believed to have involved an American bully dog ”

Why am I not surprised. I hope the owners are held 100% liable for the damages including mental trauma.

We need to start talking about banning breeds and putting illegal breeders in jail.

  2. If you are in thay situation get the first stick you see. Break it it two and put the sharp side full face into the ribs or abdomen of the dog.

Failing that if they are locked onto another dog or human, take the biggest rock you can and bear it straight down on the head full force.

Scum who keep dogs like that will never change..sadly putting the dog down is the only option for it at thay stage

  3. Lol, a €300 fine essentailly for a armed meat tank that could kill you easily, that 3-5 grown men would not be able to stop is a joke.

I am fine with these dangerous dogs as long as there would be a special licence and insurance and big jail time if you fuck up and lose control of your animal, the same way it is legal to own a shotgun but if start swinging it around while loaded like Donatello from the turtles and blow someones head off, you go to jail.

  4. Banning dog breeds won’t solve this because they’ll just get the next “hardest” looking dog. The government needs to treat attacks like this as aggravated assault and give serious sentences to people who can’t control or fail to properly handle a restricted breads. If you want a restricted dog breed then you need to take the risk of going to prison if you can’t control it. I also read the owner of this bully drove off leaving the dog at the scene – what an absolute scumbag and coward

  5. Hey, I actually witnessed the end of this. Two things to note that I can’t see mentioned in the article.

      1) the bully was off the leash in a very busy public place and no muzzle 2) the owner actually ran to his car and drove off without his dog, effectively trying to abandon him in an attempt to save himself. someone had to take a quick pic of his reg to give to the victims owners to chase up on with the guards.

Yeah, some dog breeds are dangerous, but this was much more the owners fault.

  6. Do the Bray people just trawl Facebook groups for things to write about?

  7. It’s starting to happen here. Bullies and similar are suddenly everywhere. I see four or five of them daily. On a leash (half the time handled by people totally incapable of stopping them if they go rogue) and never seen one muzzled.

Not once. Muzzles are not a thing in Ireland let’s be honest here.

I’m terrified by the trend. I just wish all dogs that could kill people were just completely banned.

I don’t even know how to defend myself from an attack, if at all possible. I don’t care if owner gets fined or jailed if I’ve lost a leg or my life. I just don’t want to be at a risk of losing a leg to a dog no one should own.

  8. Feel like there should be a serious clamp down on ownership of particular breeds. If not a ban, maybe licensing. But also, the sheer amount of dodgy breeders is a major issue in itself.

  9. Easy solution to this. Registered owners are fully responsible for the actions of their dog and will be charged with their crimes.

I wonder how much demand there will be for this breed then? 🤔

  10. They’ve banned them in England and Scotland has just followed suit. Doesn’t mean existing dogs need to be put down – you register them and must have them muzzled and on a lead when out and about. Shitty owners still trying to offload them.

We need to not wait for a few harrowing cases like those in the UK before taking action. It took kids and grown men being killed for it to happen there. Breed should be banned here and ban enforced.

  11. Lots of xl bullies banned in the UK recently got rehomed in Scotland. Then, Scotland banned them too. Will our government do anything to stop these vicious hellbeasts from coming to Ireland?

  12. “American bully dogs, “when raised right they are loving, affectionate animals”.”

Fair enough but why, at least in the Uk anyway, are all these dog attacks American Bully dogs?

  13. Saw a lad get on the dart with one of these the other day. He had a muzzle…attached to his backpack.

Bully owners have consistently shown themselves as incapable/unwillling to follow simple rules. time to ban and exterminate. Dog shelters need to stop rehoming these beasts and just kill on arrival. the dog shelters are becoming a significant part of the problem by facilitating the spread of these things.

  14. Was driving home the other day and stopped a red light and seen a young fella walking his Bully the yoke wasn’t wearing muzzle or anything. How hard is it for people to put a fucking muzzle of their dogs.

  15. The woman who was with her young nephew had a very luck escape.

  16. We need to take the same view to pitbulls, german shepards, rottwiellers etc as we do to guns because you can train them as much as you like theyre still walking breathing weapons.

  17. I wrote to my local TDs and councillors last year and will do so again on the back of this story. Suggest ye do the same if you are concerned about these dogs. I know it wont change anything quickly but it’s the only way of making it an issue. or ring joe duffy. which ever you prefer.

  18. these dogs should be banned here full stop. these vile things shouldnt exist.
