‘This protest movement is growing’ • FRANCE 24 English

Katherine this protest movement definitely not dying down it seems Netanyahu has been losing support as this war drags on that’s right this population um this protest movement excuse me is growing it seems now protests have been happening regularly every Saturday in Israel pretty much since October the 7th um

Families of people held hostage in Gaza or killed on October the 7th have been Gathering but there’s been a CH a marked change in tone since October there’s a large protest going on in the center of Tel Aviv um where protesters are calling on N yah just to St down and for early

Elections to be held in Israel growing frustration uh with his leadership and the direction of his War um there is also there are also protests elsewhere in Israel in the northern city of hia small protest here in Jerusalem and outside the prime minister’s residence in cesaria which is north of Tel Aviv

There you’ve got some hostages families um who’ve been staging a sit in not for the first time outside uh the prime minister’s home and this really reflects a growing frustration people saying that as this war goes on they do not feel that it is bringing them any closer to

Getting their loved one’s home 106 days now into this war and many people openly question the direction in which this conflict is going and saying that Israel uh needs to change direction and meanwhile Katherine Netanyahu is also facing mounting pressure from his closest Ally can you tell us about the latest exchanges

Between Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden yes this back and forth between Netanyahu and Biden is continuing um it Netanyahu has basically indirectly defined Biden again this Saturday the prime minister’s office putting out a rare statement on the Shabbat um basically reacting to Biden’s comments saying that a two-state solution of some

Type could be possible while Netanyahu is in power he was reacting of course to those remarks just a few days ago by Netanyahu where he rejected the idea of a Palestinian state so in this rare statement uh today on the Shabbat netanyahu’s office um said that Israel must retain security control of Gaza

After this conflict has ended and that that would be at odds with the idea of Palestinian sovereignity so an indirect um slapdown if you like following Biden’s remarks and clearly the relations getting more and more strained the the two leaders spoke on the phone um very recently but that was for the

First time in nearly a month they hadn’t talked since December the 23rd so at the moment the Biden administ ation and trying to push Israel towards um some kind of ceasefire some kind of deal some kind of uh path towards an eventual two-state solution but Netanyahu remaining defiant

Thousands of people demonstrated in central Tel Aviv on Saturday, calling for the return of hostages held in Gaza and early elections to oust Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “This protest movement is growing”, said FRANCE 24 Senior Correspondent Catherine Norris Trent, reporting from Tel Aviv. “Protests have been happening regularly every Sunday in Israel [. . .] since October 7.”

  1. Netanyahu ending the war would be devastating for his political future, with protest from his own citizens and accusation of corruption. Continuing the war is his only choice to survival, even though deep down he knows he can't achieve complete victory and would only worsen his position.

  2. He is the king of the world and israel is the world king, the whole world can do nothing to the us israel. The whole world has become their poooooodddles, really sad

  3. It seems Hannibal doctrine being used on his own people by Netanyahu and his syndicates and disrespect of Israeli people.

  4. There has been protests not since october 7 th, there has been protests and big protests since last 1 year every Saturday against Netanyahu . So it's not new. Again failed to make a proper news. This channel is not news channel fake!!

  5. BS, It seems that supporters of Plastilin are supporters of Hummus. In all the comments I've read, and there are many, and also in the news, none of them have been heard condemning Hummus. 73% Plastilin support Hummus, the rest may oppose but they still justify the acts of October 7th. Consequently, it seems that approximately 99% support the massacre (and much much more ISISI acts), if not all of them. They even assert that there is no difference between themselves and Hummus. Given this, why does the media claim they are innocent citizens?

  6. It's very good to see and hear the roadside beggar defying his donors and threatening to down their panties. A good lesson for biden and allies and a window to appraise what going to happen when the beggar becomes their boss.

  7. I don't care if Netanyahu is a cynic who has domestic political problems at home, he's still 100% correct about what Hamas is. Why should he humor anyone by indulging in their "Two State Delusion" that the Philistines themselves don't want? Why should Israel give them the wherewithal to build more military bases under hospitals and schools from which to lob rockets into Israel? The rest of the world is WRONG, full support to Israel and to Netanyahu equally, as long as he remain head of state.

  8. The citizens of the world do not support this man, his actions have shown he’s nothing but a vile liar

  9. I understand Israel is concern giving Palestine Independence will make Palestinian be used as a base to attack isreal and it would be worse since isreal won't control palistine

  10. The people are speaking and this has been echoed by the senate. With the beautiful democracy that Israel enjoys, Netanyahu will be out of office by the end of today considering he is not an authoritarian practical dictator…

  11. 🇺🇸 here , Biden had long talks regarding the importance of 2 state solution. Netanyahu doesnt agree , Biden hung on the phone on Netanyahu. Thats all over 🇺🇸media . People think US controls this war , the US does NOT this Israel and hamas war . Netanyahu does what he wants . So put your Palestinians flags away and quit screaming in the streets for Biden to ceasefire and stop this war , Netanyahu and IDF doing what they see fit to do to combat t@rrorism from hamas and hezbolla. If you want change, go talk to hamas and hezbolla yourself . Read Sharia law so you know what you are supporting

  12. If Israelis ensured him he won't go in trial, he will leave it at once. But he is drawing and wants to take everyone with him.

  13. Netanyahu told Biden and Sunak go and talk to the wall regarding their two state idea. E
He told them in not so many words ' don't give advice just give money and weapons and toe the line. Biden/Rishi good luck 😂😂😂😂

  14. The protests for Israel to stop their war against Hamas is like asking the Americans to stop their war against Japan after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The war ended with the unconditional surrender of Japan and not one second before. And yes, hundreds of thousands of innocent Japanese paid with their lives for their government's policies, just like so many people of Gaza are paying with their lives for their government's' policies. After all the Palestinian people voted for Hamas to lead them and therefore they are ultimately responsible for everything that has happened since.

  15. I supported Israel until he said no two states solution now there's whispers about settling Gaza it's sick i defended them until he went on about no Palestine State
