Seems like basic knowledge, more importantly when are we getting rid of these dam price gauging realtors
Uhh…millennials left the nest 20 years ago…
Living on your own isn’t really any more expensive unless your parents are basically subsidizing your real estate costs, or your parents are paying what is basically past real estate prices if they own a home.
I moved out from paying my portion of the rent to my parents, to a place closer to work, paying my portion of rent with a roommate, and my overall standard of living went up.
My wife and I live modestly because we grew up poor and want our kids to have more opportunities than we did. Her and I both had to join the military to pay for college; we had no other choice to continue our schooling.
Living modestly has allowed us to live well enough; but save for our future retirement and our kid’s futures. I figure it’s a waste to blow money on trinkets, cars, and a home that’s larger than what we need.
In Japan, there’s a new phrase called “子供部屋のおじさん” meaning “The child’s room adult.”
Stepson 23, bio son 22. Both live with us and I’m very happy they choose to stay. Lets them save money and I love having my
